I have some thoughts I’ve discovered now that I’m older…
1. I started out with nothing, and I still have most of it.
2. My wild oats have turned into prunes and all-bran.
3. I finally got my head together, and now my body is falling apart.
4. Funny, I don’t remember being absent-minded.
5. Kids in the back seat cause accidents.
6. If all is not lost, where is it?
7. It’s a lot easier to get older than it is to get wiser.
8. Some days, you’re the dog; some days you’re the hydrant.
9. I wish the buck did stop here; I sure could use a few.
10. Funny, I don’t remember being absent-minded.
11. Accidents in the back seat cause kids.
12. It’s hard to make a comeback when you haven’t been anywhere.
13. The only time the world beats a path to your door is when you’re in the
bathroom.
14. If God wanted me to touch my toes, he’d have put them on my knees.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
I don’t want to brag or make anyone jealous or anything,
but I can still fit into the earrings I wore in high school.
Come back and see what else I’m pondering …..
Mabel 💗
***** FICTION: Mabel is a ficticious character I’ve created. Any similarities to anyone living ot otherwise is purely coincidental.

I see that combination breakfast all of the time at the breakfast places we go to eat.
Florida does have a great many retirees and elderly. There is so much to be learned
from them.
SSSoo pleased you’ve been enjoying Mabel.

Loved some of those wise thoughts you have penned. You say, ” It’s a lot easier to get older than it is to get wiser.” I wonder what is it that makes us so resistant to change to become wiser. Is this because of our need to be inside that familiar, comfortable persona we created a long time back to protect ourselves? And kept on adding to it as we faced new challenges? And forgot to let go of aspects which no longer served?

Mabel is a character that I’ve created with her own wise sayings. She a combination of a great many friends that I have that are elderly. They have many interesting habits and things to say. I thought it was knowledge being wasted. Some of Mabel’s ponderings are the ones these people discuss.
I do believe that age tends to frighten us because it shows the vulnerability of our lives. It makes us realize that we are here now but will not be here forever. Life and youth is something they can accept; while death is a terrorizing fear they’d rather not think about.
Thanks for visiting and leaving your stellar comment. It was thought provoking and quite good.

I’m smiling so big it hurts. I really needed that today…my day started with me dumping my cup of coffee all over my journal and my good clothes and has kind of continued along that line. Thanks for the antidote, Izzy.
