John Lee Hooker BluesJohn Lee Hooker (August 22, 1917 – June 21, 2001) was a highly influential American blues singer, songwriter and guitarist. Hooker was born in Mississippi, he was the son of a sharecropper, and rose to prominence performing his own interpretation of what was originally a unique style of country blues. He developed a ‘talking blues’ style that became his trademark. Though similar to the early Delta blues, his music was metrically free. John Lee Hooker could be said to embody his own genre of the blues, often incorporating the boogie-woogie piano style and a driving rhythm into his blues guitar playing and singing. information from wikipedia

Very beautiful song. I really like what I heard! I did not know before. I still listen to other songs in their repertoire. I like very much.
Thank you so much for letting me made known, these two great musicians.

The blues is a special kind of music. It has a lot to do with feeling. Not every musician
is good. These two are terrific. Glad you enjoyed this post.

wonderful, Isadora, that you’ve featured the one and only John! Once I tried to sing one of his songs too:

Saw John Lee open for Van Morrison many years ago in L.A. That was a show I’ll always remember. My favorite song of John’s is ‘The Waterfront’

Bonnie Raitt is a great guitar player. I first heard of her when she played with
B. B. King. They do go well together. He’s soooo bluesy and soulful.
Glad you enjoyed this combo.
Thanks!!!

Two of my favorites. Only know John Lee from my cd’s; but was privileged to work Bonny on many occasions, such a sweetheart.

I’m immensely impressed. I first heard Bonnie when she played and sang
with B.B. King. He’s another great blues musician I’m sure you know. She does
seem to be a honey of a gal.
My friend introduction to John Lee was through a friend who loves him. Now, I do too.
Blues can be intoxicating. What they do with a guitar is outstanding.
Thanks for stopping by Don and sharing your knowledge about these great music icons.

Ah, yes! Blues can be very intoxicating. Bonnie recorded her first album in the Twin Cities. Her brother lived here so she was in town a lot. There were some wonderful shows where she dragged her father, John Raitt out of the audience to join her. And she saw me, she never failed to take my hat off my head and ask if she could keep it. Sweet Bonnie!

I heard her Dad used to play a real mean guitar too.
Musicians are real. They don’t have an issue with inteacting with people. She sounds like a real dwon to earth kind of gal. Thanks for the sharing your experience. You have some real interesting and up close with the stars memories.
