John Lee Hooker BluesimagesCUS2W650John Lee Hooker (August 22, 1917 – June 21, 2001) was a highly influential American blues singer, songwriter and guitarist. Hooker was born in Mississippi, he was the son of a sharecropper, and rose to prominence performing his own interpretation of what was originally a unique style of country blues. He developed a ‘talking blues’ style that became his trademark. Though similar to the early Delta blues, his music was metrically free. John Lee Hooker could be said to embody his own genre of the blues, often incorporating the boogie-woogie piano style and a driving rhythm into his blues guitar playing and singing. information from wikipedia

Intriguing, sensitive, mysterious, loving, artistic and crackling with excitement for life is a pretty good description of who I am. I just retired from the world of art where I sold my Artfully Designed Handmade Jewelry for 28 years; although, art will always be a part of who I am no matter what venue I choose to express it in.

    • I’m immensely impressed. I first heard Bonnie when she played and sang
with B.B. King. He’s another great blues musician I’m sure you know. She does
seem to be a honey of a gal.
My friend introduction to John Lee was through a friend who loves him. Now, I do too.
Blues can be intoxicating. What they do with a guitar is outstanding.
Thanks for stopping by Don and sharing your knowledge about these great music icons.

      • Ah, yes! Blues can be very intoxicating. Bonnie recorded her first album in the Twin Cities. Her brother lived here so she was in town a lot. There were some wonderful shows where she dragged her father, John Raitt out of the audience to join her. And she saw me, she never failed to take my hat off my head and ask if she could keep it. Sweet Bonnie!
