I Believe…
That we don’t have to change friends if
We understand that friends change.
I Believe…
That no matter how good a friend is,
They’re going to hurt you
Every once in a while
And you must forgive them for that.
I Believe…
That true friendship continues to grow,
Even over the longest distance.
I Believe…
That you can do something in an instant
That will give you heartache for life.
I Believe….
That it takes a long time
To become the person you want to be.
I Believe…
That you can keep going
Long after you think you can’t.
I Believe…
That we are responsible for what we do,
I Believe…
That either you control your attitude or it controls you
I Believe…
That your best friend and you can do anything or nothing
And have the best time.
I Believe…
That sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you’re
Down will be the ones to help you get back up.
I Believe…
That sometimes when you’re angry
You have the right to be angry, but that
Doesn’t give you the right to be cruel.
I Believe…
That maturity has more to do with the experiences you’ve had
And what you’ve learned from them
And less to do with how many birthdays you’ve celebrated.
I Believe…
That no matter how badly Your heart is broken,
The world doesn’t stop for your grief.
I Believe…
That our background and circumstances
May have influenced who we are, but
We are responsible for who we have become.
I Believe…
Two people can look at the same
Thing and see something totally different.
I Believe…
That even when you think You have no more to give,
When a friend cries out to you,
You will find the strength to help.
I Believe…
That credentials on the wall
Do not make you a decent human being.
I Believe…
That the people you care about
Most in life are taken from you too soon.

All true…some more than others for each of us. Hugs for reaffirming what we already know in our hearts to be true. BTW…I am a fan of Elvis’s songs, if not of how his life unfolded. Then again, very few of us have had our lives unfold perfectly.

I’m pleased that you enjoyed this post and thought it so reaffirming as to send a hug – xo. Yes, these don’t all fit every person but as you said what does.
Elvis was, I think, a very sad man. His mothers’ death was something he never was able to accept which may have caused his dangerous behavior. He was a misunderstood man but had a strong voice when he sang gospel songs.
Thanks for visiting and leaving your very thoughtful comment. 😊 😎

Amen, Sista. Life is ever changing. It brings us where we need to be by opening paths we nevr thought we would navigate. And, thus, we grow and realize the fears were simply in our minds thoughts and not in the reality of where our direction was supposed to be. Namaste … 🙏

Hi Isadora, lovely poem as usual. It’s very difficult to have friends in the real world, I have few my childhood, I’m very confused about it now. Maybe because of this I’m looking for friends in the virtual world. This song is great! Have a great Sunday!

AHhhh … intimacy with friends and connections them are difficult. We expose ourselves and become vulnerable. I find that to be true for me too. Touching someones heart and helping them in some way is far greater than having one person who isolates us from others because of fear of losing you to another friend or not receiving what they need and don’t seek to find in their own beings. Soemtimes, friends seem to drain us of ourselves. We serve best when we help those who need a gentle touch or word. 🙏

I am not a big fan of Elvis, either. OOoopppsss … hope no one is offended. But, you are right, he does do this song justice and he seems to fervently believe what he’s saying. ~~~~ : – )
I’m always pleased when you encourage my nurturing posts. Like you, Becca, I am trying to shine a little light in the dullness of the world. 🙏
