I couldn’t sleep a wink all night. Shoe shopping is thrilling! At first light, I showered and dressed. There wasn’t a moment to spare.
I’d found the perfect dress the day before. I knew exactly where to find the ideal shoes to go with it.
Why hadn’t I purchased them together?
Driving in the downpour was blinding. I forged on.
As quickly as my stylish wedged shoes could carry me, I went straight to where the shoes had been the day before.
I was shocked. Disheartened. It can’t be. Everything’s rearranged.
Is it that time, already?
My shopping nightmare.
Christmas.

Ahhh, I feel her pain. Falling on love with something and then when you finally go to get it, puff, it’s gone. Perks if last minute shopping. I loved reading this story.

I’m with you in the pain department. It happened one Christmas many, many years ago,
Great dress – No shoes to go with it.
Eventually, I decided on another dress and shoes that went well together.
Now, I’m more of a comfort person. Casual with a ballet slipper shoe.
Age, I suppose. I never thought I’d think about comfort but there’s validity to it. 😊

Stores do tend to reaarange constantly. They’re always trying to attract the purchaser as soon as they come in.
Keeping it fresh by rearranging things can do that. Glad you enjoyed this, Meg. Thank you for stoppping by.

Getting the right shoe for the perfect dress can make or break an outfit. I was a buyer for a large department store years ago.
Purchasing the coordinating items for the customer was a priority.
Now, I don’t care that much about style. It’s more about comfort. I never thought I would be in that mind set. Age, I suppose.
Thanks for leaving a very nice comment and for visiting.

I don’t think I’ve ever found shoe shopping thrilling – doing it at Christmas would be truly hellish. A great flash fiction. 🙂

I totally agree. I never can get the right shoe. I like comfort. Shopping during Christmas for anything can be hellish
especially if it isn’t for the holiday. All items are marketed towards that alone. I think it’s terrible the way each event
is focused on so far in advance. I suppose that’s the way it is in business.

I’m glad you enjoyed my story. The Christmas decorations in the stores when Halloween and Thanksgiving
haven’t arrived yet seemed to have pulled at my nerves.
A little humor with a sprinkle of – Really, do we have to go there already?
Thanks for popping in for a visit and leaving a comment. I appreciate it.

Quite a funny and disheartening story. I hate it when you go shopping and what you liked is already gone. And yes, I guess Christmas is closer then we think.

Where did the year go. I feel like I had just rung in the New Year. Weirdly, I felt stressed when I saw the
decorations and trees. I suppose I thought I had missed it. 😳
Thank yo for visiting and leaving a lovely comment, Mandi.

Not just shopping for shoes at Christmas but shopping for anything at any time of year is my own particular nightmare. Except shopping for food. I like food. And wine.

My hubby shops for food – I cook the food (love to cook too) – he eats the food – I watch.
I eat to survive not for pleasure. 😎

You sound just like my wife! Except she doesn’t like to cook. She does so rarely but is great at cleaning up the messes I make.

It’s my idea of hell too. I don’t like crowds or shopping. Maybe, it’s age. I don’t feel the need.
What I have is enough. Thanks for stopping by, Bjorn, and commenting. It’s always good to see you.

I have so many shoes and only one pair of feet. I’ve discontinued buying. I’ve decided to donate them. 😎
To be honest, I wish I could wear trainer shoes all the times. So much more comfortable. 😁
My nightmare would be to have to be in a mall with lots of people crowding me to get to a pair they have on sale. 😳

Isadora, I haven’t read this yet, and I’m going to in just a second, but I wanted to tell you that you must have made a typo in loading in your story into the InLinkz board because all it is showing us is a “Century Link” suggestion under your name. I wanted to let you know that I’m going to delete this link so you can reload it, using the correct url. Now, I’m going to go delete the link so you can reload and then come back and read this story.
