What should I wear?
We planned to meet in town. I wouldn’t have had it any other way. After all,
I had no idea if he was the person he’d said he was.
Pathetic feelings spring up inside me. Is this really the new way of life?
Divorce robbed me of who I was. The rejection manifested a despair in me for
any kind of affection.
Still, a dating site date.
He’d texted it as our rendezvous instead of a date.
“Do you know where the Chin Boat Chinese restaurant is?”
“Yes, it’s by the park. There’s outdoor tables.”
********
“Rhonda?”, a deep throaty voice said, while extending his hand.
“Bradley, I said with clenched teeth. It’s a pleasure.”
Was it?
He was nothing like his photo.

Loved the story, can identify with it totally. Something else that intrigues me is the picture.. It resonated strongly with me then I remembered why, if it is where I think it is there is a old church to the left of the picture and my friend got married there. Keep on with the stories love them.

A great build up in suspense and portraying her anxiety in meeting him. Going out with someone you know.. for the first time is always questionable as to the outcome of it, but to go out with someone you have never met is a bit more intimidating and awkward…especially when they do not even look like their photo! Hopefully, in her case…he looked even better in person…:)

Thank you so much for your very kind comment. Any social encounter with others …. not always dates … can be a cause of anxious concern. With social media as the majority of ways of meeting dates, friends and long lost family, we’re always wondering how it will all go in the end. It’s a different social world.

I’ve enjoyed writing the shorter stories too, Becca. Originally, I had joined the short writing challenges to
hone my writing skills. I wanted to say more with less words. A BIG problem for wordy me. 😄
Glad your enjoying them. thank you.

My newly divorced daughter (after 26 years) tells me stories about the new dating world.
It’s difficult I’m sure. But, personality is important too. I left it where he could be much more
handsome than she expected. After all, he did have a deep throaty voice which could be sexy. LOL
Thank you, Gilly. ❤️

Well written Isadora and I’ve heard about quite a few cyber dates that ended up in marriage. I don’t think any of us will look like our photos when we meet up in real life, but that is not what should matter. I think when people talk to each other on the internet, more are said in words and sometimes people learn more about each other as well. Looks doesn’t matter to me.
You’ve done very well to leave it open to interpretation and you’re right. Everyone will have their own unique experiences in their own reality. Well done! 😀 ♥

Cyber dating is used quite a lot. I have a few friends that have found wonderful mates on them. It sure is a changing world in that
area of life. I’m with you, looks aren’t everything. Sadly, I do look like my photos. I never alter them. I want everyone to see the real me.
No sense in shocking anyone. LOL Anyway, I added that he had a deep throaty voice which could be considered handsome in a sexy way.
Thank you for your wonderful comment, Sophia. Your gravatar is adorable. ❤️
Toodles,
Issy 😎

You’re right about that Isadora and yes, the world is changing and we have to go with the flow. 😀
There’s nothing wrong with your photos and you are one gorgeous lady Isadora.
LOL! Deep throaty voices are handsome in a sexy way. 😆
You’re very welcome and thanks. I am glad you like it. ♥

I tried to leave it to interpretation, Sylvia. Each reader who has had a cyber date has their own story.
This was influenced by my recently divorced daughters (26 years) experiences. I’ve been married
50 years and wouldn’t have a clue otherwise. Thank you for stopping by and commenting.

These are experiences from the stories my recently divorced daughter has talked about.
It’s slim pickin’ when your in the 45 age range.
I’m glad you liked it, PJ, and had a good laugh. It is timely, isn’t it?

Haha. That first date after talking to a guy online can be risky. I guess if anything else it is a date and you can always say you have to go and sleep cause you are so busy if you don’t like the person. Maybe you’ll be surprised. Either way you are kind of stuck for that one date. Then, you can be like, um no thanks not again. Great real life like story.

Wow, that’s really impressive to be married 50 years. Congratulations. I’m 30. I met my last and first serious relationship online. It lasted 4 years. But I have many friends who met their husband or fiancé on match.com or eharmony etc.. Great story, I think many people men and woman could relate.

I have a few friends who met people online. One went to Christian.com and isn’t religious but met a woman who
was perfect for him. I think it can work. It’s like finding a good pair of shoes, you have to search.
Thank you for the congrats … I appreciate it, your visit and your complimentary comments. Come back again … 😄

Well, I certainly had my run ins with a few women who were nothing like their images on a dating sight years ago. But then, I also met my wife on it, so it can go either way. Your short story definitely brought back memories!

Hi Emilio,
I tried to leave it open to the experiences of people. As you know, I’ve been married for 50 years.
This was based on the stories, my recently divorced (26 years) first born daughter. She in the 45 age
and it difficult to find a nice date. But, she has had experinces that are positive; as you are proof.
Rhonda, in my story, could be thinking he was very handsome. Some people don’t photograph well.
Well, I’m glad it has turned out well for you and your wife. When the stars aline the soul receives its’
partner. Thanks for stopping by. It’s nice to see your comment.
