Friday Fictioneers – Love is Like a River

Friday Fictioneers AA Feb.5, 2016 - leary2

The cloudy night casts a shadow over the river.
Sitting on the bank, I’m regretting my failures while mourning my loss.
We’d felt solace here.
You were the chuckle in my laughter. The path I walked that kept me straight.
We spent time listening to the reverberations of the rivers course.
Your eyes twinkled as you listened to me speak tender words of love.
The placid water exudes a strange calm.
There’s a stillness in the air that surrounds me.
Looking at the reflection of my face in the serenity of the water;
My thoughts linger gently on yesterday.
Gone …

Author: Inside the Mind of Isadora

Intriguing, sensitive, mysterious, loving, artistic and crackling with excitement for life is a pretty good description of who I am. I just retired from the world of art where I sold my Artfully Designed Handmade Jewelry for 28 years; although, art will always be a part of who I am no matter what venue I choose to express it in.

    • I hope I kept the mystery of what type of loss it is. I’m noticing many are assuming it’s the loss
of a romance between two loves. But, instead, it’s about the death of one loved so very dearly.
Thank you, Sandra, for your comment and or visiting my blog.

    • Nature shared together can leave an imprint when the bond is no longer there.
The loss in my story is of a love lost through death. I tried to keep it neutral
to see the impressions of others, PJ. Loss no matter what type it is always leaves us regretting
      or remembering.

      • I’m sorry for your loss, Isadora. Loss through death is truly painful, yet you expressed you feelings over this loss so beautifully in your piece of writing.

        • Oh my, I didn’t mean to create the impression that it was a loss I had. It’s a flash fiction story. I’ve had losses in my life
so it could be sprinkled with those but that was long ago. I’ve observed friends that have had losses which I’m sure was part of my thought process in the way I wrote the story. I’m going to wear a smile from you very complimentary comments for a long time. Thank you …. 😍

  11. To carry regrets is to be human, In this short piece you describe that well.

  13. Querida Isadora,

A very wistful poem. I liked “the chuckle in my laughter.’ To have lost a partner who so completed her would be devastating. You captured that emotion.

    Shalom,
