Legend Prince Dies: (Purple Rain) Tribute
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I hesitated to use this platform to write about the passing of the young 57 year old Prince this week. Many news stations, magazines, social media settings have talked about this. I didn’t want to sound repetitive about what so many have said already.
In fact, Elizabeth Obih-Frank @ Mirth and Motivation has written a phenomenal article on the late Prince. She’s covered many aspects of the singers life. I believe her words best describe this great entertainer whose loss has touched so many. Please – click here – to stop by and read it. It’s extremely touching and informative.
My first memory of Prince was when my eldest daughter came into the kitchen singing ‘Purple Rain’. I enjoyed his music and his ever changing persona. One day, on my visit to the hair salon I turned into a Prince look-a-like. The hairstylist thought my hair would look fantastic in an Afro style. I’m always up for change. I did it. I had my hair cut in an Afro hairstyle.
It had grown a bit when this photo was taken. I can’t remember if I liked it or not. I guess I didn’t as I don’t have a great deal of photos to show it off. I do remember it taking a HUGE amount of time to grow out.
It’s been a devastating loss to the music world and his fans who enjoyed and appreciated his unique talent. This year has been a year of too many great losses of talented artists.
It does seem more painful when someone younger passes. I suppose it’s knowing they’ve lost
so much more life they could have lived. : )
He was truly a consummate artist and a musical genius for our time. I still can’t wrap my mind around the fact that he has left our planet to the great home in the sky. I miss his brilliance and I thank you for mentioning my post in your beautiful tribute to this great soul. May he Rest In Peace. ❤
Your very welcome on mentioning your post on Prince but it was brilliant. I appreciate your kind words about mine.
I believe it’s the unexpected news that usually devastates us. His young age is another factor to add to our sense of loss.
His privacy creates so much misinformation. Let’s hope they continue to talk about his greatness.
R.I.P. Prince 🙏🏻
He truly was a great singer and entertainer and it is a huge loss to this world. Loved your picture with the Afro! You are right. There has been a huge dent in the entertainment world with the loss of so many wonderful singers this year.
Like you, I felt like I had to do something to honor him even though there’s so much out there now. Beautifully done, Izzy, and I especially enjoyed seeing that photo of yours in an Afro style…fun! ❤
When we hear about a celebrities tragedy it stirs memories of where we first heard about them.
His Afro influenced my hairstylist to create a new me with one of my own but he wore it better.
Thanks for stopping by and visiting, Gayle. It’s always a pleasure to see your lovely smile. 😍
