Dancing is very freeing. Many people believe that
you must follow certain guidelines to be a dancer.
Isadora Duncan believed in an unrestrained style of dance.
She’s been credited with moving dance away from strict formal structures
towards more free-flowing forms of personal expression.

The free spirit that was Isadora Duncan was tragically silenced
when she was killed in a terrible car accident in Nice on the Riviera, France.
The eccentric, world famous, dancer and pioneer of a new style of progressive dance was killed.
During a test drive for a car she was interested in purchasing,
her Spanish shawl was caught in the mechanism of the front wheel of her car.
A devastating ending to a forward thinking dance artist.

Let your inner dance spirit come out to play.
Be in your own dance world.

Dance is my swan song, it’s my soul food. I’m a busy mum of 2, and I make dance one of my priorities. It reminds me of who I am x

I took history of dance for an art credit in college, I wrote my report on Isadora Duncan… I’d forgotten all about it. She was a beautiful and free spirit. 🙂

She was ahead of her times. I can just imagine how many more barriers she would have crossed to dance freely.
I read her biography when a teacher recommended it after a group of kids had mocked my name. It was enlightening.
I’m glad you enjoyed my story about her and that it brought back a fond memory.

Thank you so much, Daal. I came across an articles on-line while researching another post.
It made me recall that I read her biography when a teacher recommended it after a group of kids
had mocked my name. It was enlightening. She was very progressive in her thoughts about dance and life.

The dancing child quote is so joyful and poetic, even the words seem like they’re dancing. 🙂

I felt the same way, Meg, about the quote when I read it. The words did seem to dance.

Yes, it was a tragic ending to an inspiring artist. Her life was filled tragedy. Her two children drowned
in a car that shifted while they were in it. No driver … some of us are given a huge amount of adversity.
Grateful for your visit, Pj. Thank you … 😎

Awww … thank you for your kind words, Claire. I’ve been fascinated with Isadora Duncan ever since a teacher in grade
school introduced me to her. Kids were making fun (mocking) my name. The teacher told me about Isadora Duncan to ease
the sadness I was feeling. Teachers are important in our lives. Sometimes, we don’t realize it when it’s happening.
Have a great weekend.

Wonderful words describing the inner feeling of the outer movement, Becca.
Yes, she was a pioneer. I often wonder how dance would have continued to
change had she been able to showcase more of her talent.
Have a GREAT weekend. 😎

I love dancing! Have a plaque on my wall that says Dance is the music of the soul. Used to go with a sister and dance for as much as five hours running. Sigh. How I wish I could do that again. Love this, reminds of the magic of dance.

Dance has been a spirit I carry with me everyday since childhood. It was my way of overcoming so many things.
I’ve loved it all of my life. Sadly, bad knees from aging has curtailed it for me. I strive everyday to stay in the dance
and do but with a great deal of pain. I, too, wish I could be where I was. But, smile fondly at the memories it’s had
in my life.
It’s lovely to see you here, Janni. It’s been a long time. I’m sure your journey has been one of many levels. Please stop
by for a visit from time to time. Thank you for your comment. Be well … Be happy … Be love !!!
Namaste 🙏🏻
