The phone rang.

“Hello,” she whispered softly.

“ Nereida, meet me at our usual spot on the beach.”

~~~~~~
Memories rapidly flooded her mind. She remembered the first time they’d met. He was walking with his metal detector along the shore. She was photographing the hazy afternoon sky. He had glanced her way.
“Do you always photograph people passing by?”, he said.
“No, only the good looking ones,” she replied.
Thus, the beginning of what would turn out to be a whirlwind romance.
He’d found an antique timepiece that day. It would be her wedding gift.
~~~~~~~

“I’ll bring the bordeaux,” he quickly added.

“I can’t wait”.

She hung up the phone and smiled.

“I wonder who that was”.

Intriguing, sensitive, mysterious, loving, artistic and crackling with excitement for life is a pretty good description of who I am. I just retired from the world of art where I sold my Artfully Designed Handmade Jewelry for 28 years; although, art will always be a part of who I am no matter what venue I choose to express it in.

  1. That’s very sad Isadora. She finds who she loves than can’t remember who he is on the phone. Unfortunately the beginning of illness I think. Great write!

    • Ahhh … Jacqueline
      I know you know that the reader – in a good novel – should never know where it’s going to go.
      I’ve been trying to hone my skills in that area. If I captured you, I feel I’ve improved.
      Your comment leaves me with a big smile. Thanks you ….
