Today started with a beautiful gift.
I’ve been growing this orchid plant for 2 1/2 years.
The green stems on the plant, always look healthy but no flowers.
I’d purchased the plant at a garden sale. There wasn’t a name tag or color listed. As I have a great many purple, lavender, pinky purple and white, I was willing to gamble on what
color this one was going to be. BUT …. no flowers for 2 1/2 years.
I fertilized. I watered. I placed it in different garden areas for better light.
Nothing ….
Then, this morning, I was given my gift. These glorious yellow and orangey edged blooms.
I love Mother Nature. She never disappoints.
Have an orchid smiles day ….

These orchids are beautiful! You are so lucky to have such a wonderful surprise after 2.5 years. The photographs made me smile, because it is so cold and miserable. The yellow flowers are just stunning 🙂

Your post reminds me of life in general. Just like your orchid, you watered and cared for it, and when it still didn’t bloom, you tried something else – like moving it to a different area. If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. Good things come to those who do the work and wait patiently.

Yes, indeed. Things happen when they’re meant to happen and not a minute sooner.
I appreciate your finding a wonderful message in my post. Thank you for leaving your kind message and for visiting.

Yes, it was worth the wait, Tina. Funny thing is I kept the plant becasue of its hardy green leaves.
If they had been whimpy I would have put the plant in the recycle mulch bin. LOL
I’m happy something finally bloomed. A late bloomer is the perfect description. : )

I’m looking forward to showcasing this beauty at the next orchid meeting. I hope it lasts until
the first week in October. ~~~~ : – )
I just found the tag for it and the name is ‘Sunset’. I prefer ‘Sunshine’. 😎

I have the impression that these delicate flowers are difficult to grow. Maybe this one knew she was growing for you, Izzy. She knew she had to shine for such a beautiful caretaker! ❤

Ahhh … sweet words for me, lorna, thank you. I’m not sure why this one took so long to bloom. It may have been immature when I purchased. It was on a bargain shelf in the store. I love my bargains. : ) I’m still smiling at the beautiful flower. Yesterday, I noticed the tag had ‘Sunset’ written on it. I think it should be called ‘Sunshine’. 😎

I never thought it would bloom. I did like the dark green leaves. They were always healthy.
Now, there’s a lovley flower to compliment the leaves. 😎

I love orchids, all kinds. They seem to have far more character than most flowers, One can admire them and they seem to talk back…

Orchids are truly unusual, Gerry. They never bloom tha same way. The colors might be bright and then the next time faded. Unique specimens … 😄
I hope your heart is healing from your recent sadness. I posted a song on Sunday with you in mind. I hope your health is well too.
Have a nice weekend …

I grow orchids as a hobby. I have about 50. I replant the off shoots to create more plants. It’s relaxing.
At my last orchid club meeting. I won 6 small ones in a raffle they were having. Don’t know their colors either.
I don’t think they’ll bloom too soon as they are small. The unknown is always exciting in the orchid world.
Thank you for enjoying my new flowers.

Wow, there is even an orchid club! That sounds like a fabulous club, and I am sure it is relaxing, gardening tends to relax the soul. There is an Arabic saying that gardeners are the people with the gentlest hearts, because it takes care and patience to grow things. I wish you and your orchids well, so glad to have stumbled upon this post.

There are many orchid clubs within an hour of my home. They have lectures from orchid masters or orchid store owners on care, potting and names of orchids. You can bring in an orchid that isn’t doing well and they assist you. It’s quite fun. One member has 200 orchids. She’s having an open house soon. I’m excited. I love your Arabic saying. I believe that to be true. Please stop by and visit anytime. It’s been a pleasure. I thank you for your wonderful dialog.

Orchids come in all colors even black. I have about 50 of them. I grow them and then create new ones from their off shoots.
Although, at the last orchid club meeting, I won 6 small orchids in a raffle they had. LOL No, it wasn’t fixed. Lady Luck – I think!!!
I’m happy your liked my new yellow orchids.

I did. We have a white one and white one tinged with purple at home. Most of the ones I see here are white or purple but they grow well and are difficult to kill 🙂
