Before dawn, Paw fed the horses, pigs and chickens.
It had snowed all night. It was going to be a rough day for setting traps.
Fresh eggs and ham were ready when I got up.
“A good breakfast will get you through the day,” Maw said.
We took the North end of the farm. Maw took the South end with Bubba.
Beaver skins helped make us money in winter.
No sign of Maw when we got home. Paw and I went out to find her.
She was slumped in the snow.
Bubba cried out, “Paw, Help”!
“Maw caught her foot”.

Ooh… ouch! And so cold, Isadora! Wonderfully told! Just a quick pre-prepared ‘stamp’ message to add…
My visiting, replying, commenting and the like have fallen a little by the wayside of late, for which I apologise, but wanted to call by today and wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

No apologies needed from you here, Tom. We all have those times when life steps in and puts a halt in our step. You are welcome whenevr you arrive. The tea pot is always brewing some hot water for tea. 😊
I’m pleased you enjoyed my little story. A bit painful on Maw. Thank you😎

I’ve been on a holiday Christmas cruise so I’m a bit behind in my responses, Dawn.
Being without internet and social media was refreshing. I missed it but I think it helped
to rejuvenate my mind and spirit.
I appreciate your positive and encouraging words on my story. There is more to the story. I may write it as it’s
filled with many surprises. I’m like a child with a huge amount of toys. I want to play with all of them but time stops me.
i hope you had a wonderfully MERRY CHRISTMAS …. filled with joy and magical surprises.
May your ‘2017’ be filled with great health, extraordinary unexpected things and more love than your heart can hold.

Querida Isadora,
Well written slice of rural life. Muy frio. Hope they can pull Maw out without problemos. 😉 You set the tone and the atmosphere to where I felt as if I were there and knew these people. Buen trabaje, amiga.

Querida Rochelle,
Gracia por su commentario buena de mi cuento. Brrr … frio.
I think I’m going to make this into a short story. I had a lot more to write.
It has an interesting twist – in my mind not yet on paper. LOL If I post I’ll let you know.
See you in January as I will be on the high seas.
Adios, besos y carino,
