She could see Marcus in his white Escalade. He made sure all his girls were where they were supposed to be. Stay warm, baby, Candy’s bringing you what you want. Money …
~~~~~
How did she get in this mess? She’s from Connecticut. We’re good girls.
Me? I’m the rebel. I never follow rules.
Candace could see no way out. She wasn’t Candace anymore.
~~~~~
“Hey Darlin’, lookin’ for some fun?”
“Sure, baby”.
“Let’s go for a ride.”
~~~~~
The bright marquee lit the seedy motel. The room stank of smoke and sweat.
Thug!
If he hadn’t pulled the knife, Marcus wouldn’t have shot.
Dark indeed. As others have said – ironic her pimp saves her when it’s arguably down to him she’s in danger in the first place. A grim life to lead. Great story
Thank you Lynn for popping by. I apologize for the delay in responding. I’m having a difficult time getting back to my writing routine. ~~~ : – (
Yes, her pimp is her defender and the creator of why she needs one. 😎
Evocative picture of a life which has taken a turn for the worse. I love how you show the irony of her pimp’s “protection.” Happy New Year!
Yes, indeed, Michael. Candace was a young mixed up teen searching for not-knowing-what.
I’m glad you saw it the way I wanted to tell it. Thank you.
You might hate the pimps for being pimps… but in the end they can protect you. Maybe it gives Candice a second chance to be Candice.
It sure is a scary situation to see someone shots. Perhaps, this could
be the turn around that Candace needs. Thanks for commenting, Bjorn.
I got it fine. Your husband is a retired law enforcement guy, my dad was a reserve for many years with the county. I understood the story fine. It’s a terrible world out there. I know … I go back to work on Sunday! 😀
PHEW … your comment helps. I had a lot of insecurity on this one. 🙄
Yes, indeed, NYPD for 15 years. Caught a bullet in his leg; not a good place.
Retired, became a copper artist. http://etsy.com/shop/copperwhimseasbyal/
Check out life after being in law enforcement.
Thank you the encouraging words and visit.
I’m so pleased the intensity came across, Mandibelle. In such a short amount of words it can get lost.
Querida Isadora,
I kind of got the idea but I was a little confused, también. You do have so many inside stories begging to be shared. Another nit…I think you need uno mas ‘e’ on marque to make it marquee. Happy to see you back.
Abrazos y shalom en el año que viene,
Querida Rochelle,
No worry about the nit … I want to have errors corrected. It’s the way we learn to better our writing. Any help, with kindness is always appreciated here.
I think 2017 will be a year for me to focus on the many stories I have and expand on them. I’ve been doing challenges to hone my skills. I think it’s time to get outside the sandbox of safety.
Siempre me encanta sus visitas. Gracias …
Con carino,
I can explain, Gilly. I only know this from insider info (cop stuff). Anyway pimps, which Marcus is, follow their girls to make sure they’re ok.
If they don’t exit a room within a certain amount of time they go see what’s going on. In this case, Candy was about to be stabbed. IE: then, shots fired. Bye – Bye John ….
Hi Dale,
I’ve been on a long holiday. I think my brains is in a dead zone. I had a bit of trouble with my voices on this one.
I read and reread it and knew something wasn’t blending but just couldn’t climb out from the unknown.
I will go back and re-do but today is full. Such a shame to leave it hanging.
Hey … Thank You – for pointing that out. I feel so much better that I knew something was wrong.
I’m pleased we got to meet on FF and aFrank. Hope your 2017 is filled with peace, good health and LOVE.
Happy New Year 🎉 Cheers 🍷
