“Esmeralda, we must practice if we’re going to win the competition.”
“But, it’s snowing and I wish to go home while I still can.”
“The Flamenco has to be perfect; no missteps, we must be flawless.”
“Okay, go, he snarled. Work on your costume and return early tomorrow. No excuses.”
Cautiously, Esmeralda, walked to her car.
From behind she heard a scream.
Quickly, she turned and saw Renaldo sitting on the icy concrete.
With a sheepish grin, she shouted, “No practice tomorrow … right?”

Absolutely! I’ll never forget when our rather rotund science teacher skidded up on an icy patch in the school playground. Fortunately he didn’t break anything, but it took four of the 6th form boys to get him upright again. 😆

On the one hand, I’m happy Esmeralda gets a break. But I remember injuring my ankle and not being able to bellydance for weeks and it was so frustrating! For anyone as passionate about the art as Renaldo, this has got to be a quite aggravating. Fun story.

Yes, I agree with you. As a former dancer, I can remember many minor foot fractures from overstraining.
Belly Dance: the only form of dance I never tried. Now, my hips would be too achy to try. : )

Let’s hope the only thing bruised was his pride, although a lot of people wind up in the hospital from falling on ice.

Falling on ice isn’t the only way to wind up in the hospital. Falling at an older age can happen often. At times, deadly.
Bones don’t heal well or at all and other issues come up too. This was a tongue-in-cheek story of my days as a dancer.
The grueling practices and schedules were tough. But, you have to be tough to be a winner. Besides, dancers love, love,
love to dance no matter how much their feet hurt. Even @ my age I adore dancing. Thanks for stopping by RG.

Actually, in Flamenco dancing the men wear a heeled shoe for the clicking. As a former dancer for many years, I can atest
to the brutal practice sessions. But, when you win it is all worth it. Anyway, dancers love, love, love to dance no matter how much their feet hurt.

As a former dancer, I can tell you teachers or choreographers will work you until you fall
