Blog Friends,
An update on my absence from my blog.
For the past week, we had been getting warnings of an impending hurricane.
Naturally, I began to prepare for it. I had gone through a hurricane in August of 2004. Although we were spared damage to our home, it was devastating for my daughter who lost her home. Recovery to our town took years. Florida is known for their hurricanes. It’s a way of life for us. Many homes are capable of tolerating hurricanes but there are still old Florida Crackers houses that are destroyed each time there’s a storm.
Fortunately, our home can manage the storms but it cannot withstand water. They’re predicting this storm to be of huge magnitude. Hurricane Charlie sustained winds of 165 miles per hour. This storm is sustaining 185 mile per hour winds with storm sugres of 225 miles. It is a BIG ONE.
It has pummeled many of the islands in its path during the past few days. The images are devastating. Warnings are being issued for residents of the Florida Keys, Miami and many areas on the east coast of Florida to evacuate. We are in the west coast of Florida but a hurricane can change from moment to moment. We are in the Sarasota area which is one hour south of Tampa. They predict we will be getting high winds and major flooding.
Our plan is to wait out the storm in our home. The exits roads are packed. The possibility of being on the road during the storm is high; plus, the slow traffic uses more fuel which our state is running out of already. We have prepared for days without electricity and water. We were without water and electric with Hurricane Charlie for 7 days. Our hurricane preparations are water, canned food, peanut butter, candles, battery radio, first-aid kit, medications, toiletries and our cat needs. We are preapring for evacution by packing a backpack with two day of clothing and personal necessities. Our home has been secured as best as we could secure it.
Please pray and sends your good thoughts to all who are being effected by this hurricane.
May Hurricane Irma pass quickly so that we may return to our beautiful tropical paradise.
Blessings to all,
Isadora šš»

It was a very bad storm. I am still trying to put myself to my things bcak in their places. I will eventually post about my experiences. But, for now, I am a bit overwhelmed by it all. Thank you for coming by and asking about me. I am grateful for all who have left comments.

Take all the time you need to process and heal. I recently had a rather traumatic experience and it took me a while to even getting back to writing anything at all.
Sending you positive energy and hugs!

Thank you, Nia for all of your good wishes. It was very much needed in Florida. My roof is damaged causing leaks and damage to ceilings. A few other things but I am fine as is our home.

I live in Port St Lucie, FL and I evacuated to Nashville, Tennessee. The drive took 3 times what it should have because of traffic.

I hope you’ve been able to get back to your home. We stayed until I began to panic. Then, it was too late. I’ll be posting some events as soon as I can manage to talk about it. For sure, Irma was a little devilish. We were without electricity of 10 days.
BRUTAL …!!! Safe travels … hope all is well and stress free.

Thank you! I hope that you are safe as well! My area managed to escape what could have been so much worse. I definitely was scared at the thought of the destruction Irma could do! I know a lot of people lost power for at least a few days. Luckily everything was fine at my apartment. The trip home was long, but definitely not as stressful.

It’s a pleasure to have electric after 10 days of darkness and zero luxuries. BRUTAL ..!!!
I’ve been reading some of the prayer messages today.
It was a tough storm. We have damage in various areas that will need repair. But, we are safe and our home is ok. Thank you Christy for being in the prayer parade.

I’m back on the internet today. No electricity or basic luxuries for 10 days. The heat, you ask, “BRUTAL”. I love my paradise but I have to be honest about the ordeal. Breathing through the thick humidity is awful. More experiences to come when I can face what I’ve experienced.
Thank you, aFrank, for your kind words.
Perhaps, now I’ll be able to catch up on dancing with the stars. It will be a nice way to relax after the longs days to come.

Please be careful. The water is expected to rise rapidly. If you have any questions you can let me know on here. I can check with my Iphone. The internet is intermittent. Safety is first … our things can be replaced or are imbedded in our memories forever. Hugs and Love from the West Coast of Florida …. Going to our safe spot as soon as I sign off. Blessings to you both …. š
