It all begins with a skein of yarn, a pattern and knitting needles.
The results: a wearable cowl neck scarf.
A warm neck apparel for those nippy cold days.
Let’s make sure our head is cozy warm too.
Recently, I’ve begun to relearn a skill I had from the late 1960’s.
I started making knitted items for my first born daughter back then.
Times were lean. Making items she could wear in the cold weather helped our budget a lot.
Now, I’ve begun to knit for the relaxation and calming effects it has.
The bonus is that I get to gift them to those who can benefit from their use.
These items were sent to my third born daughter who lives in
Albany, New York where it is 35 degrees right now.
Hope you enjoyed my creations.

What’s a wonderful gift to give your daughter, it looks so warm and cosy. It’s still cold in the UK, after a bitter but short~lived snowstorm last week, so I appreciate how useful it must be to her! I used to knit and crochet garments for my children and you’re right ~ it definitely helped to stretch a tight budget, whilst providing me with relaxation and satisfaction. I’m glad you’re receiving the right kind of support in your new craft group, it makes all the difference to your enjoyment and confidence in the items you create. I tend to work without a pattern, making it up as I go along ~ some love it, others not so much. But it suits my temperament and refusal to conform and, for me, that’s all that matters! Have fun and carry on in your own style Issy, it works! 🙂

I appreciate your comment on my fiber work. I’m just beginning to bring back an old craft I enjoyed in the past. Thank you, Dina.

Thank you … I appreciate that you find them to be nice. I’m back to the beginning in skill. The 70’s was a long time ago.

I’m enjoying these projects very much, Gilly. I can crochet but always had a problem coordinating the knitting 2 needle technique.
It’s a slow process. At least, I have some finished items to show for all the hours spent practicing. I do remember you posting
a crochet blanket once. Time to get busy again. : )

I don’t knit, Issy, but when I see something like this, so beautiful, I wish I did…but not really enough to start. Maybe I could get one of my daughters to take it up and then give me the results for Christmas. 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving.

There’s something about a handmade item that touches the heart. It’s becoming a big craze again as it was in the 60’s.
If your daughter is interested in starting she can get assistance at any yarn shop. All you have to do is buy their yarn.
In my town, there’s a yarn shop with a big table that teaches individuals while visiting with others. Recently, baby hats
were made and donated to our local hospital. Hope she gets the knitting bug. ~~~ : – )

I tried to knit when I was younger but I found I was much better at crochet. LOL! Happy Thanksgiving Issy!

Coordinating the 2 needles was my issue. I’ve gotten better at it. I can crochet but there are so many patterns for knitting.
Hopefully, when I have writers block, I can relax and get some ideas during those relaxing moments. Perhaps, a new hobby
is in the future for you, PJ. Thanks for enjoying my loving hands work.

Yes, I remember I had an issue with that too – coordinating the two needles. You may be right. I may be getting ready to learn a new hobby! LOL! Thanks Issy!

I always need to be busy. When I knit I can calm myself down. Reading sometimes makes me sleepy. Knitting is more productive. I went to a yarn store and asked about lessons. They said they would teach me as long as I bought the yarn. Afterwards, it’s juys practice, practice. practice. An easy hobby if your looking for something is cross stitch. It’s just X’s that you add your thread over. Maybe in 2018 something will strike your fancy. 😁

I use to do a lot of cross stitching but it got to where it hurt my eyes too badly and I had to stop doing it. Crocheting makes the arthritis in my thumbs hurt too much. Oh, the pains of getting older! LOL!

LOL … yes, the eyes are sneaky like that. When they don’t want to work they go on strike. I’m with you and aging. But, I do a little rest a little. SO far it works … time will tell. ❤

I understand. I have to rest a lot anymore. I can’t do near the things I use to be able to do.

A huge smile has overtaken my face, Becca. I’m still in the beginning stages. I can crochet but coordinating
2 needles can be a challenge. Sometimes, I start doing the stitches backwards. LOL I’m having fun. It’s a way
of getting away from writing when I I’m having writers block. Hope your Thanksgiving was a BLESSED one.
