Boe was a good ole country boy; rich and handsome too.
After daddy died, he’d had to run the farm. But, he was tired of milking cows and feeding hogs.
Boe took off for college in the big city.
At a party, he met Victoria. Her sapphire eyes captivated him.
Eventually, Boe took her to the farm to meet Mama.
He showed her around the farm. Pointing, she asked, “What’s that?”
“Wild mushrooms in dung. We feed ‘em to the hogs.”
She wrinkled her nose.
At dinner Mama announced, “Roasted hog and wild mushrooms tonight.”
Victoria wrinkled her nose again.

That got me chuckling! I could just picture the whole thing. I was probably relating a bit too much with Victoria since I’ve not been on a farm either! 😆🙀💕

Gosh … I’m happy you had a good laugh. This challenge has had everyone writing funny stories so your reaction is perfect.
I went to a farm once. I saw the chicken being killed for dinner. I couldn’t bring myself to eat it nor do I like chicken to this day. Traumatic for me … : (
I guess you could say there’s a bit of Victoria in me. LOLOL 😂😂😂

I hear ya! I’d never survive. I’d name all the animals and make them pets. And nobody better touch them! Haha 😂

Wait. If the wild mushrooms are fed to hogs, does that mean the people are pigs?

HA HA …. some people are pigs in their mind.
This was a fun week of humorous stories. Thanks for leaving

Thank you, Dawn. I could imagine her wrinkling her nose too.
A city girl in the country may not work for her.

HA HA … I’m sure there will be seconds if Mama’s a good cook.
The city gal may have had these foods in city restaurants but seeing the process
was a bit much for Victoria. It’s been a fun week of stories. Thanks, Penny, for stopping by
and leaving your hungry comment. : )

Or, maybe, Boe asked Mama to make his favorite foods for Victoria.
Sometimes, you walk right into a culture you didn’t realize was very different
from yours. Victoria must have had something like these foods in city restaurants.
But … seeing the process was a bit much for her. Glad you enjoyed my story.

Well done and interesting take on the prompt. Reminds me of some if the stories English war brides told. Some London girl lands on a farm in a remote part of the prairie. 😊
Life is full of challenges and new experiences and the g.f. will adjust depending on how much she wants Boe. My mom-in-law taught me a LOT. 😄

I agree, Christine. I had a mother-in-law who was kind and loving towards me. Not all mother-in-laws are bad some can be quite caring.
It’s tough to be city gal on a farm. I wonder if she could adjust for love. Mmmm ….
Thanks for popping by and commenintg.

Some women can’t be country girls. 😊
She’ll have to adjust or convince Boe the city is the place for them. Realtionships … not always easy. Thanks, PJ. Have a fun weekend.

Me too, Donna. I was tricked into eating venison. I didn’t like it. I only eat fish – no meat or chicken or pork. Hopefully, Victoria will adjust. Ha ha

It goes with the territory. It’s very seldom that a mother will like a prospective daughter-in-law.

Sons are special for moms. I’ve got 3 girls but have viewed these behaviors from afar. There are women who can win mother-in-laws over. I did. 😊
