Friday Fictioneers – Job Hunting

From their bench, Vincenzo and Guiseppe take in the activities of everyday life.

“Vincenzo, I gotta get a job.”

“Why? We can show tourists around like we always do.”

“For tips and grins? Mama’s gonna kill me if I don’t get a job,”

“Get out of this funk, Guiseppe, you’re starting to bore me.”

“Mama gave me 6 bucks for lunch. She told me, I better have a job when I go home today.”

“Hey, I got 4 bucks. Let’s go get a bottle of Chianti.”

“I guess I can look tomorrow.”

“Let’s go, Guisep, before you change your mind.”

Intriguing, sensitive, mysterious, loving, artistic and crackling with excitement for life is a pretty good description of who I am. I just retired from the world of art where I sold my Artfully Designed Handmade Jewelry for 28 years; although, art will always be a part of who I am no matter what venue I choose to express it in.

  2. Do it while you’re still young and have no responsibilities, I say. Good on them! but hope he’s prepared to have mama give him an earful.

  3. But will she really throw him out? He sounds just like my son.

    • If only life were that simple. I think as they grow older they’ll realize that no one
gets a free pass. Sooner or later responsibility will have to be faced. But, it would be nice … if only.
Thanks for popping by and commenting, Michael. Have a great week …

  8. Hey! Why do something today that you can put off until tomorrow. Fun take. Maybe these rascally boys need to be separated.

    • Ahhh … the influence of another can be a downfall or maybe, Vicenzo, knows he’d lose his friend to the world
of responsibility. Damn .. that irresponsible guy. LOL I had fun with this one, Alicia. I had no idea what to write.
I’m glad in turned into something even if it’s a bit silly. I can say some people I know had kids that were in college
for years just not to get a job. 😳 Have a great weekend …

  9. I enjoyed your take on the prompt – very good-natured! I like the way you tell almost the entire story in dialogue.

  13. Sounds like they’re living in the moment. Mama needs to cut off the lunch money if she ever expects these two to find a job.

    • I think you could be right, Russell. Hunger can force you to get up off of your a-s. LOL
The only thing is they’re using it for wine. Mmmm … future drunks??? 😳 Let’s hope they grow up real fast.
Tough prompt for me this week. I’m glad I was able to put two words together for it. Thank you for popping by.

  16. Querida Isadora,

It doesn’t sound like these two will have a productive job anytime soon. Perhaps they could find one as wine tasters. 😉 Cuenta muy divertida.

    Shalom y abrazos,

    • Querida Rochelle,
Muy dificil para mi la foto esta semana. Pero esta bien.
I have a friend whose son went to college, went to college and went to college.
It’s based on that. Like they never want to get a job just because … but, I like your
idea of a wine taster. Go with what you know. LOL
Gracias mi amiga … Besitos 😍

  17. I suspect they will be showing tourists round for a few more years to come! I wouldn’t mind lazing around in the Italian sunshine for a while too though. Nicely done.
