Their marriage was good. They had dreams.
He wanted a farm.
She needed space; wide open space to breathe.
Their friends lived on the adjoining farm.
Dad rode his tractor in cover-alls, a plaid shirt and a straw hat Mama made him.
Mama’s floral house-dress draped with her home sewn apron, worn proudly, was as stylish as she wanted to be.
She’d carry brother on her hip while holding a wash cloth in her other hand.
It was a time for fixing things. Things we kept forever. Things we treasured.
It was a way of life they loved.

That is so lovely. Love your little descriptions – the straw hat, the dress, everything home made and fixed up but just how the two of them wanted it. Just enough description to let the love shine through. Really enjoyed this

I’m sure anyone working and living on a farm would question how idyl
it could be when there’s much work to be done. I visited a great uncles
farm one summer. I was in awe of how much needs to be done. BUT …
I suppose it is a peaceful life for those who want to live it.
Thank you for commenting, Sandra.

I realized that when I visited my great uncles farm one summer.

What a lovely and peaceful scene. I love how you call it a time of fixing things. It’s such a stark contrast to our time of throwing everything away. Their lives had value that wasn’t dependend on material things.

I was touched by an experience I had one summer when I visited a great uncle on his farm.
A stark contrast to my city living life. I drew from that experience the feelings everyone
had of treasuring whatever they had no matter how small. Glad you enjoyed … thank you.

Yes, that old shack isn’t used for much any more but I wouldn’t tear it down. It has too much character!

I agree so much. There’s a great deal of character in the shack. I’m sure many, many memories too. The photograph showcased the shack beautifully. I could feel the history as soon as I viewed the photo. Thanks for sharing it. 😎

For a city girl, I think I did ok. I visited a great uncles farm a few times as a girl.
I drew from those memories vignettes in my story. Thank you for enjoying it.

I lived in the city. I visited a great uncles farm once. This is based on
what I felt when I was there. Thank you, Keith, for reading and commenting.

Dear aFrank,
Now that my belly stopped hurting from laughing, I can comment.
Thanks for noticing my return. Just got back and am feeling good and relaxed – ie: positive energy story. ~~~~~ : )
Well … the laughter came from the video. What a fun and nice thing to do. I used to love that show. I guess
it was the humor of her and her husband being soooo opposite and her dumb blond way of life. The humor was clean
and funny. PS: just went to a comedy club before vaca … UGH!!! the vulgarity and cursing was hair raising. What happened to funny???
Anywho … great cruise. Hope to post some special things that happened. Celebrity never disappoints.
I missed the musical but I’ll be here Saturady and I have a song. WOOT WOOT !!!! Cheers to a fabulous weekend 🍷🍷

Ahhh … yes, the air is cool as fall approaches and the wheat fields have been planted.
I love writing about farm life though I grew up in the city. I spent a year on an island
and visited my great uncles farm. Those memories were always feel-good days of
peaceful relaxation despite more work.
Thanks you for feeling the breeze. Have a super weekend.
