Inside the Mind of Isadora

Friday Fictioneers – Dessert Mademoiselle

Chez Maisonette was her favorite special occasion french restaurant.

Valentine’s Day was their first date there and, now again, a year later.

She primped choosing to wear red his favorite color.

It was a cool evening. The restaurant, a short walk from their apartment.

~~~~~~~~~
The champagne must have gone straight to her head.
She laughed when he said, “I’m leaving you.”
“Why?”
“I’m done”.
“I need you,” she pleaded.
He patted her hand, “You’ll thrive, dear, you always do.”
He kissed her, handed the waiter cash and left.
~~~~~~~~~

Misty-eyed, she noticed the waiter was handsome.

“Dessert, Mademoiselle.”

Flirtatiously.

“Yes.”

Intriguing, sensitive, mysterious, loving, artistic and crackling with excitement for life is a pretty good description of who I am. I just retired from the world of art where I sold my Artfully Designed Handmade Jewelry for 28 years; although, art will always be a part of who I am no matter what venue I choose to express it in.

  4. That was fun! I like the way you signal your humorous intent with the restaurant name – “Chez Maisonette”. That made me chuckle.
    You certainly made me wonder about your MC’s psychology – total butterfly, or badly-damaged woman? Not in the first flush of youth, either – mid-thirties, perhaps?
    Nice tale!

    • I didn’t have a base on the MC’s psychology. I was having a bit of fun creating a saucy character.
      She thought she was all that. At least, that’s what I was going for. It’s the reason she didn’t
      hesitate flirting with the waiter. I like the idea that she’s a badly damaged woman and possibly in her mid 30’s
      gives me some direction for this to be a longer tale. Thank you, Penny. Your comments are always very astute.
      I appreciate the guidance and help. Happy Wednesday …

  9. Within 100 words, a relationship has started and ended, and a new one is about to begin! She sounds like a serial monogamist. Excellent storytelling, Isadora.

    • Ahhh … yes, so very, very wrong. I think he was sending her a BIG message.The story wouldn’t have had the impact if it was just an ordinary date night. From the ending, she wasn’t in pained too long. LOL
      I was having fun this week. It’s totally fiction. Thanks for reading and commenting. Isadora 😎

    I think you’ve given us a clue as to why he’s leaving her. She doesn’t seem too concerned, does she? Bien escrito mi amiga.

    • Querida Rochelle,
      It’s a fine line she was walking. I guess he let her know.
      Quite the impact that he did it on Valentine’s Day.
      It looks like she needs to get her need fix. : )
