Friday Fictioneers – It’s Time to Say Goodbye

You left.

Your books left behind as a reminder of your passion; reading.

And, I spent time building something that could not be built.

You showed me I’d counted on the illusion of my heart.

Yes, perhaps, it’s time to say goodbye my love.

These words you dared not want to hear.

For our lives together can’t be built on crumbly silt of sand.

For it would fall upon itself because we tried and failed, persisting in the dream, because I believed it would succeed.

It’s hard to distinguish whether the world we live in is a reality or delusion.

Author: Inside the Mind of Isadora

Intriguing, sensitive, mysterious, loving, artistic and crackling with excitement for life is a pretty good description of who I am. I just retired from the world of art where I sold my Artfully Designed Handmade Jewelry for 28 years; although, art will always be a part of whom I am no matter what venue I choose to express it.

  4. Ah yes, those type of relationships. We hang on even though we know we are building something that cannot be built. Nicely put.

  6. Querida Isadora,

So much longing in this piece. People don’t always live up to expectations and things do change. Hermosas palabras. Muy triste.

    Shalom y abrazos,

    • Querida Rochelle,
Yes indeed relationships come with many expectations sometimes. When those hopes and thoughts aren’t met it can put huge strains on couples.
I was trying to write in a different style this time for the FF prompt. I’m pleased you liked this. Gracias, mi amiga.

  10. A genuine expression from the heart, mind, and soul. I also like the single line approach. Well done, Isadora …. BTW – Elvis is in the building to take the stage for a weekend concert.

  11. Perhaps love is a delusion, or at least a gloss on something more basic. Perhaps that doesn’t matter so long as it commands our belief

  12. Beautifully expressed Isadora. The pain and longing is evident.

    • Thank you, Drew. Yes, unspoken words can say so much. It can be isolating when one is left alone and lonely. Too many relationships forget there is a responsibility in caring about the other person feelings and needs. Aahhhh … so grateful I’ve never known such loneliness.
I always appreciate your commenets and visits. Have a superb weekend … Isadora 😎
