Cafe Chat

Welcome – make yourself at home. Pick a pretty cup or mug for coffee, hot chocolate, herbal tea. or a cup of my new favorite chai tea. Sit in a comfy chair so we can chat.

A little music might be nice … enjoy my selection.

It’s a warm overcast day with rain forecast for the rest of the weeks in September. All this is due to Hurricane Sally. Spared by her wrath, we are only experiencing a lot of flooding from the outer rain bands. Unfortunately, it looks like New Orleans and Alabama will have an abundant amount of water and wind damage.

Emotions have been roller coaster rides with exuberantly happy days and some sad days too. I suppose it’s all part of the COVID series of emotional lifestyle changes.

Let me begin with the joyous moments I’ve been experiencing.

I celebrated my birthday on July 20th. I am an on the cusp moon child baby. Since in isolation and under quarantine, hubby created a special dinner with flowers and candles added for an intimate restaurant atmosphere. We danced away our dinner calories afterward. Since we don’t have a restricted bedtime, we added a midnight swim in our pool. The water was warm since our weather has been quite hot this year. BTW … no fires ignited from the amount of candles. ~~~ : – )

Vincent Alfonso Carrozza November 25, 1994 September 17, 2018 … R.I.P.

In August, my middle daughter celebrated her 50th birthday. She did have a big celebration in South Carolina; however, we were concerned about COVID and decided not to attend. Hubby and I are at a high-risk health level. I did send a gift of a specially created portrait, created by artist/author Rochelle Wisoff-Fields, of her son. He died in September of 2018. Far too young at 24. It was a tragedy for our family. He will always be in our hearts.

Hubby and I celebrated our 55th anniversary the 3rd week in August. Our usual celebrations of anniversaries or birthdays on cruises have been interrupted by COVID. Instead, we found a wonderful concert to attend on social media after a fabulous dinner we both participated in making. A midnight swim was a must for calorie burning. A blessed ending to a journey we’ve walked for a very long time. I believe it is One that will be A Lifetime Forever.

A Wonderful Anniversary Song

Intriguing, sensitive, mysterious, loving, artistic and crackling with excitement for life is a pretty good description of who I am. I just retired from the world of art where I sold my Artfully Designed Handmade Jewelry for 28 years; although, art will always be a part of who I am no matter what venue I choose to express it in.

    • Yes, Amy, 24 is far too young. It’s difficult to get a photo of the two of us together but we were having lunch that day with friends. Lucky us to have this wonderful pic. Yes, it’s from a year ago. Sadly, COVID has put our friends visits on hold. ~~~ : – (

  2. Happy belated birthday and anniversary, Issy. We just celebrated our 36th anniversary last night with a special meal (made by moi) and re-watching the last episode of one of our favorite TV series, “Foyle’s War.” I have a “selfie” by Rochelle, too. She’s got quite a talent and for writing also. Anyway, I hope your week’s been going well and continues to do so.

    • Thanks for the birthday and anniversary wishes. I appreciate your thoughtfulness. Doesn’t it seem surreal, at times, when you clebrate something – ie: a big anniversary. I don’t undersatdn where all that time went. I suppose that’s a good thing. Happy 36th to you and your hubby.
Yes, Rochelle is quite a talent. I was blessed to have had her paint the portait. It was a gift received with many, many tears.
Where is this weries. Can I get it on Netflix or Amazon Prime? I’d like to see it. We’ve been watching many, many series. We’re in the midst of ‘Longmire’.
BTW … you’re very talented to be able to ride a horse and enjoy the wonders of the outdoors while doing it. I’ve never been a sports type person. The last horse I rode decided to inflate (wrong words – I’m sure) while they were putting on his saddle. While out on the trail my saddle started shifting until I was hanging sideways. It wasn’t funny until I retold hubby who had deceided to pass on horse back riding that day. At least, I have a fun memory. ~~~ : – )

      • Unfortunately, “Foyle’s War” is no longer on Netflix but it might y on Prime. We watched “Longmire” a few year ago and enjoyed it, but trust me, Wyoming isn’t nearly as dangerous as it seems there! The books are, in my opinion, much better because Longmire isn’t quite as out-of-control.

I grew up wanting to have a horse and I really think I learned to ride through mental practice I got while reading every book about horses I could find. The person getting your horse ready for you should have known the tendency of that horse to inflate and either walked it around and then tightened the cinch again or had someone check the cinch again partway along the ride. That can be dangerous.

We’ve been watching all the Poirots with David Suchet (we own the DVD’s of them) and have just started watching “NCIS”, the original, from the beginning on Netflix. I’ve seen them all before, but it’s fun to watch from the start. Poirot and Foyle are repeats as well, multiple watches. Foyle comes highly, highly recommended from us. The creator, Anthony Horowitz is also an author and created “Midsomer Murders”, which is lot of fun but quite different from Foyle!

        • I’ll be on the look out for it. I’m sure one of these streaming companies will have it. If not now, eventually. Thanks.
It was very scary hanging sideways on the horse since the tour guides were up front and in the back. One of the other people shouted that I was falling. They came and got me off while they fixed the saddle. BTW …. it was very dangerous. We were on a trail at the edge of a mountain. You could see straight down. It was quite intimidating. My back was sore for days. I’ll stick to what I know best: dancing. LOL Happy Trails to you … 😀👍😎🐴🐴

  5. Great portrait Rochelle did for your daughter. I’m sorry about the subject, though – 24 is far, far too young.
