It’s been a bright sunny day today. The humidity is low so it’s pleasant out. It’s still swimming pool weather, though. We don’t experience leaves changing down south here in Florida. A quick three-hour drive can take you to picturesque places with Mother Nature painting beautiful landscapes. It’s an annual weekend drive for us to see this change of colors but, this year, we’re staying close to home instead.

Before COVID, I was a member of a knitting group. A once a week meet, chat, and helpline for beginning knitters. It was held at one of the public library meeting rooms.
Since January the library, as per county restrictions, has been closed. I decide to continue with my projects despite my lack of knowledge of certain knitting stitches. I learned a great deal from watching YouTube Professional Knitters. It’s been fun learning and continuing to create.

Has anyone been experiencing odd people behavior when you go out in this time of COVID?
I’ve only ventured out for MD appointments, dental appointments, and a well-needed manicure/ pedicure.
On my last outing, I decided I needed a change of scenery from the mundane MD offices. I went to a Home Good store. It’s a fun shop with a variety of seasonal decor and items for home decorating. I enjoy seeing the decorations set-up for the different holidays. Right now, Halloween was everywhere as were some Christmas things. They have a specialty food area I like too.
While looking at the ingredients of an exotic jar of whole figs in a luscious syrup, a woman came up to me and said, “Your cart is facing in the wrong direction.”
“Is there a proper way for the cart to face?”, I asked.
She pointed to the arrows on the floor. “You must follow the arrows in order to socially distance the correct way.”
Well, I would have laughed but I didn’t think she’d appreciate it. Instead, I looked at her and said, “I’ll do better next time.” I walked away chuckling within.
Too bad, I might have considered buying the figs but left the store instead.
We have now gotten to the point where we have Nazi aisle police. Funny and sad all at the same time.
Have you experienced a situation similar to this one?

Reading this made me laugh. The last time my husband and I were in the store he completely missed the directional signs. When I found him he was going up the down aisles and down the up aisles. It was hilarious. I’m sure people were looking at him like he was crazy but I laughed hysterically. These are crazy times for sure. Not wearing a mask, or ignoring directional signs could or could not risk your life

With all that we have to remember – ie: masks, sanitizer and distancing – the last things I wanted was another things to remember like a directional arrow. Yes … it can be hilarious and frustrating all at once. Thanks for reading and commenting. Be Safe

If those are all your creations, Issy, you rock!! I’m impressed. Walmart has those directional aisle signs but I never noticed them until I read about them somewhere. Lots of people ignored them or didn’t know about them and even though they’re still on the floor, they’re not in force anymore. I would certainly never have told anyone they were going the wrong direction, but I was sorely tempted to mention masks more than once. Arizona when we arrived was paying no attention to masks, distancing, etc. and paid the price later. But whether or not someone agrees that masks help, if that’s the law, s/he should wear a mask and obey the law. I’m saddened by all the nastiness, partly in response to Covid and partly because of the upcoming election.

Oh yes, those are my knitted items. Thank you, Janet, for appreciating them. I’ve made quite a lot more. I’m making Christmas gifts right now. Its going to be a homemade old fashioned Christmas. this year. Ill bake cookies later for neighbors. I was thinking of trying to make preserved. Its still on my to-do list.
I always wore a mask even when it wasn’t mandatory. It just seemed like i needed to wear for my safety. I believe the election is causing stress too. The bombardment of ads and bickering adults is wearing on ones nerves. Maybe, 2021 will be better. Have a peaceful week … Be Safe

I had a a teen-aged boy tap me and say loudly, “You shouldn’t be in her without a mask!” Not in the mood to explain myself to this bossy kid, I smiled and went about my business. He didn’t know I was having trouble with my asthma that day, and I did NOT feel I owed him that explanation after he was so rude.
He tapped me again, a LOT harder. I turned and gave him the hairy eyeball. “You’re going to want to back up off of me,” I said. “I am not breaking any laws, but YOU are harassing me and have physically assaulted me. If you touch me again, I WILL call security!”
Again I turned and went about my business. Ordinarily, even though I think it’s useless, I do mask up when I’m out among other people. I just don’t feel I need the permission of an obnoxious kid to go mask-free when breathing is already a problem 🙂

I agree, Linda, masks make it difficult to breathe. I have asthma too and ,at times, feel light headed with a mask. I do believe in wearing them for my safety but do not like to be reminded if I forget it in the car and don’t want to go back and get it.
I think your response was justified. No one should have to explain to anyone why they’re not wearing one. Have a wonderful week … Isadora😎

Your knitting projects are looking grand Isadora… Once upon a time we complained about all the multitude of road signs and directional arrows…. and now here we are with signs and arrows telling us the way we should be walking in a shopping aisle !!!…. I think I’ll go and join Neil for a walk on the moon…. !!

My knitting skills are advanced beginner level so I’m still learning a lot. 👍😊
I can see the directional signs helping but there were no signs indicating that we needed to follow them. I’m very easy going. It takes a lot to get me flustered. I thought it was funny of her to take the responsibility of directing me.
This too shall pass and we will get back to our wonderful lives again.

Awwww …. one is never too old to accomplish what you desire. The process is long but it will be worth it. You will gain a tremendous amount of satisfaction from accomplishing the task of it. Good Luck … I’m sure you’ll post when it’s out for us to read. 📚📖👍😍😃😎

Yes, its a changing world. It will take time for all of us to adjust. I hope the small town friendliness in my town doesn’t disappear due to frustrations or too many rules. I guess time will tell. Thanks for popping in for some dialog. Have a relaxing week.

Welcome to the Covid world… Around here, every store has had directions since late March or early April… It took a little to get used to, but now I think it is the best thing to hit grocery stores since the express lanes 😉 It makes the flow of traffic so, so much easier and navigating other shoppers is now simple. I finish in half the time.
If the woman was rude, it might be because of experience – about 99% of the people now obey the signs, kind of like they do when driving, but those who don’t are almost always super belligerent about it. They purposefully block aisles, mutter insults at people they pass, stare people down, etc. Some are heavily armed, and you know they are just hoping someone will say something so they can kill them. I am serious – I have never in my life seen the type of hatred in a person’s eyes that I see in these people’s eyes.
OK, people do make honest mistakes (I have), though by now, the majority are used to it. And, yes, I have parked my cart at the end of an aisle and dipped in real quick, going the wrong direction, to get soemthign right there instead of going up and back for one item that is 5 feet away. Everyone cheats a little. Most of the time, though, playing by the rules is much more efficient than the “old” (6 months ago) chaotic way…

Believe me, I’ll remember to follow the arrows in the future. I hadn’t been out since January. Hubby does all of the grocery shopping. I can’t lift heavy item because of back surgery issues. So when I ventured out after 10 months to this store I was unaware of the rules that had been in place. I can see it as an asset. It does create an issue for people who like to read ingredients in foods. I need to know what’s in foods due to allergies. This store has wonderful imported foods I like tor try.
YUP … Its a new way of living. We’ll get used to it but it will take time. I live in a small town but the small town friendly feel is dwindling.
Yes, the woman sounded a bit irritated. I’m sure she’s encountered many incidences like mine. I may have pressed on her last nerve. I’m a lover not a fighter so I’d rather just move on. I sure hope she wasn’t carrying a gun. Its legal here and many have them.

It is a brave (some say not so brave) new world out there… And people’s nerves are on edge because of all of the new restrictions, even people who understand them 100%. People do stop to read ingredients or whatever, and it is usually easy to pass, so shouldn’t be an issue. But, yeah, I hope that friendly feeling returns!

I had no idea about floor directional signs. The only sign as I entered said to keep masks on. I missed that class when they held it. LoL
