Splashes of Colors

Splatters of Colors and Hue”

Color me a Rainbow,
Sprinkled with golden dreams
with dashes of wishes
of purple, blues and green.

Color me a Heaven,
With cotton-candy clouds,
amid a sky of azure blue.

Color me sweet red roses,
kissed by a fresh morning dew.

Color me some raindrops,
with splashes of misty-crystal hue
and wet blades of silky-green grass
to run barefoot through.

Color me lofty trees,
dressed in autumn’s shades of gold,
Clusters of scarlet and brown leaves
on the ground,
as the seasons unfold.

Color me a white winter land,
with whistling winds and whirling sounds.
Snowflakes flying in the crisp-cool air.
Then color me right into a verdant green,
spring where robins sing without a care.

Color me back to summer,
beneath a lemon yellow sun.
Then color me a silver moon,
and a black starlit night
when the day is done.

Intriguing, sensitive, mysterious, loving, artistic and crackling with excitement for life is a pretty good description of who I am. I just retired from the world of art where I sold my Artfully Designed Handmade Jewelry for 28 years; although, art will always be a part of who I am no matter what venue I choose to express it in.

  1. Oh, my dear Isadora, I love your painting… and your poem! It’s as if your beautiful tree dropped those words from its branches!
Many hugs and love and xoxoxoxo

    • I’m so very happy you liked my painting, Marina. It’s such a compliment coming from you. Thank you … 😍 It’s an oldie from my college days. My professor didn’t like it. He was tough on my artwork and so was my English teacher on my writing. I got a C-minus for a paper in English and was told it was an A-minus but was given that grade to teach me to write better. LOL OUCH!!! But, regardless of their grades and dislikes, I managed to work at my art all of my life. I love and live for all art.
I photographed it for my portfolio. Recently, I discovered the photo in a ga-zillion files I have. I’m pleased you left your stellar comment for me.
Have a wonderful week … Be Safe 😷

      • Which goes to show what in important role teachers play in someone’s life! In first grade (I went earlier than other kids), my teacher told my parents that they believed I was autistic because I would completely erase the pre-drawn images we were supposed to fill in with color, and drew my own on top! Some assesment! Thankfully dad is an artist and years later he said how proud he was I did that! 😉 Then there are the tough ones who like to pressure you with lower grades, or other ways, in order to do better (like your case). Each person has a different character though and will react differently, so a teacher should know how to ‘read’ their students!
I’m so glad you discovered this tree. It’s so beautiful!

        • I totally agree with the impact that a teacher can have on a student, no matter what age, Marina. I think what made it hurtful for me was him saying it was an A-minus paper but was giving me the C-minus. I would have accepted the C graciously. The following year in English short story writing, I pointed out his disdain for everything I wrote to my new professor since she seemed thrilled with everything I handed in. She said he was dismissed because of his manner of grading. Another student had made a complaint that he had made advances to her which she had refused and graded her a low score after that. I didn’t experience any advances by him but it may have been a pattern he had. UGH!!!
I always let my children create freely. Rules or boxing in art can be stifling. Each of us creates in our own way. You were blessed to have an artistic father that let you be free with your art. AND … look at you now, a phenomenal artist. Thanks again … Be safe 😷 Isadora 😎 😍❌⭕️

          • No wonder he was dismissed!
Exactly so, my dear Isadora, each one of us creates in a different way. Exactly why a teacher should be able to see it and give the right guidance. There are people who do well with tough / strong criticism because they feel compelled to prove them wrong. But there’s the other type too, like me, who will simply ‘abort’ on the first ironic remark etc. Hence I would go from A+ in maths for example, to . ..the lowest grade (literally)!
Blushing on your extremely flattering compliment… but it’s true that I owe my father a lot.
Happy Wednesday, my dear Isadora. You too stay safe. 🧡🤗🧡😎😘

            • I can’t even imagine how the at-home learning is going to work for the future. Students have been studying in a way that eliminates the day to day struggles one experiences in a classroom setting. I hope they learn to navigate in such a way that some positive things will come out of it all. It’s a well-deserved compliment for a very beautiful woman inside and out.
Our weather is a pleasant 73 degrees of bliss. I am definitely going to soak up every ounce of joy sent my way today.

  2. Color me impressed with your beautiful prose and the image that goes along with it. Was it a painting first? However you did it, it’s perfect, as is your verse.

    • Smiling from ear to ear, Tina, Thank you for the kind words. Yes, it was a painting that I did a long time ago. I photographed it to add to my portfolio. I edited it recently. My art teacher wasn’t over-the-moon with it. What did he know???!!! LOLOL
If I had listened to any of my college professors I’d have done nothing in the arts; yet, I earned my living from art. I live art. I love art. Oh, and my English professor gave me a C minus on a thesis I did because he said it would be the only way I’d learn to write well. LOL But … I must admit it did sting at the time. Izzy 😎

      • Hmmm…..so DID you improve your writing after the C- ? You write beautifully so I wonder if you were already a good writer or he pushed you to become better. As for your art teacher, art is SO personal, I have a hard time understanding how it can be “graded”. I’m a big fan of your work so good for you for proving her wrong!

        • Yes, Tina. Art is very subjective. I retired and began jurying shows and for awards and participation. I soon realized that not everyone would agree with my choices.
Teachers have an impact on students. It must be difficult for them. I think what made it hurtful for me was him saying it was an A-minus paper but was giving me the C-minus. I’ve always had diaries to write my thoughts in. My skills improved the more I wrote which is what they say helps a lot. I also jumped into waters I never should have when I started my blog. I joined writing groups with really good writers, some published ones too, and learned from them. Since I generally write for me to express my thoughts, I suppose it doesn’t matter if my commas are too many or my sentences run on or they only make sense to me. I’m just having fun. It’s where my title comes from, ‘Inside the Mind of Isadora’. Thanks, Tina, for taking time to write and enjoy my journey.
