Friday Fictioneers – Love is Like a River

35 Comments

The cloudy night casts a shadow over the river.
Sitting on the bank, I’m regretting my failures while mourning my loss.
We’d felt solace here.
You were the chuckle in my laughter. The path I walked, that kept me straight.
We spent time listening to the reverberations of the river’s course.
Your eyes twinkled as you listened to me speak tender words of love.
The placid water exudes a strange calm.
There’s a stillness in the air that surrounds me.
Looking at the reflection of my face in the serenity of the water;
My thoughts linger gently on yesterday.
Gone …

Intriguing, sensitive, mysterious, loving, artistic and crackling with excitement for life is a pretty good description of who I am. I just retired from the world of art where I sold my Artfully Designed Handmade Jewelry for 28 years; although, art will always be a part of who I am no matter what venue I choose to express it in.

  5. Querida Isadora,

    Tu bisnieta es preciosa. I love “you were the chuckle in my laughter.” The longing in the poem is tangible. We can’t get to this age without having lost someone, can we? You’ve expressed it beautifully.

    Shalom y abrazos,

  6. The river keeps her company and flows along as she revisits her thoughts. I can’t think of a better companion for comforting as memories she cherishes pass through her.
