Lorna May dreamt about the places she’d travel to once she left this small town.
The Ford pickup always needed fixing. It worked fine when they were riding around town, but Dillon wanted her ready for our big city adventures.
His daddy told him he could have the truck when he turned 18. No lie, he handed him the keys right after they cut the cake.
Laying on the flatbed, we’d look up at the stars, dreaming about the places we’d see.
I never did get to see those big towns.
Dillon ran off into a ditch. He died instantly.

Yes, it is sad when it’s a young person. I have a little more written on this story. I had to whittle it down to 100 words. I’m glad the story held up. Thanks for reading and visiting, Jilly. I appreciate it. Have a great Sunday … Isadora 😎

Poor Dillon, stopped short without having lived. Lorna needs to live their dream for both of them.

I hope she decides to do just that. I think Dillon would agree. I’ll have to play around with this little piece of fiction and create a full story. Thanks, Lisa. Hope you have a super weekend … Isadora 😎

Oh dear. From gazing at the stars to lying in a ditch. Such a tragic twist. But life can throw things at you like that, sadly.

Such an abrupt change of atmosphere. But it definitely had me wanting to give Lorna May a big hug. I hope she ends up going to the big city one day!

Well, in my head he was alone when the accident happened. 100 words doesn’t leave much room. But, if I do continue this fiction story, I think she just might make it to the big town. Thanks for reading, Plaridel. Have a wonderful weekdend.

Hee Hee You know country girls dream about the big city.
Sometimes, fate creates an intervention. I think Lorna May
might decide she can go to the big city alone. YUP … I’m making this a longer one.
It’s got a little meat in it. Since it’s fiction I cam go almost anywhere. Who knew ???
Thank you, mon ami … Have a wonderful weekdend.

Querida Rochelle,
Nope, Fiction … just a lil story I felt when I saw the photograph.
I have a lot more to add. It has a good base so I am going to see where I take Lorna May. I just love when Southerners have two names.
Gracias por venir y sus buenas palabras.
Abrazos y Carino,

I saw a sad ending when I first viewed the photograph. I went with that feeling right away. I had a longer version that I edited down. I may continue with this one. It’s fun to add more story to these challenges sometimes. Thanks, Sadje.

Lorna May doesn’t really seem to want to see the big city that much. She didn’t really need Dillon to achieve that dream

Yes, I agree, Neil. I edited this to 100 words. I was thinking the same thoughts about her lack of leaving. Some of that story is on my cutting floor. LOL It’s always a pleasure to read your insightful comments. Thank you

Yes, fate can take over and we can follow or change directions. Lorna May decided it was her fate to stay despite her dreams. I do have some of this story on my edit page. I might just expand on it. I just need a few more hours in the day. Have you got any spares hours you can sell off. LOL Thank you, Ivor. I always enjoy your thoughts on my stories.
Have a great week … Isadora 😎
