Friday Fictioneers – Moms Will Be Moms

Charles, please eat something. You’ve been on your computer for hours.

Mom, I have to finish my thesis. My graduation ceremony is in May. I need to finish this.

I thought computers were supposed to make things easier and quicker.

Seriously, Mom??? You need to add your info or research your information. It all takes time.

Well, I’m bringing you something to eat since you refuse to leave this room.

OK, Mom. Just make it the last interruption.

Knock, Knock here’s some food.

Fine. Thank you, yes, I love you.

Now, don’t forget a bathroom break too.

UGH, OK, Mom.

Intriguing, sensitive, mysterious, loving, artistic and crackling with excitement for life is a pretty good description of who I am. I just retired from the world of art where I sold my Artfully Designed Handmade Jewelry for 28 years; although, art will always be a part of who I am no matter what venue I choose to express it in.

  2. Makes me wonder how to instill better habits in them while they’re young. I already get Ugh Mom though, so perhaps there’s no hope!

    • I’m no expert, even with 3 grown adult daughters, but you just steer them in the direction and hope they don’t fall off the course. Eventually, joy comes in the form of freedom to enjoy grandkids without the need to raise them. Thanks for the comment. Sorry about the delay in responding. I’m late … like the rabbit in Alice in Wonderland. LOL

  4. Sounds just like a mother – whether it be a mom or a mum. We’re all the same I think. And kids aren’t too different either. Good story.

  7. At least it was a good reason rather than a game. But for all, bio breaks are a must. Well done, Isadora..

  12. Querida Isadora,

My conversations with my sons were more like, “Did you do your homework? When were you planning on doing it? Five minutes before bedtime? If you put as much effort into studying as you do making up excuses you’d be a straight A student.” And so on.
Good story. We moms can go overboard, can’t we? Bien escrito me amiga.

    Shalom y abrazos,

    • Querida Rochelle,
Isn’t that the truth? I had to smile on my face. I have 3 girls who had different approaches to homework. The ‘worrier’, the ‘I will get to it’ and the ‘don’t worry about me, i’m done’. HA HA I think we worry for them because we don’t want them to fail. We can’t help ourselves. I’m glad you enjoyed my lil snippet of mom-isms. Gracia …
      Abrazos y Carino,
      Isadora 😎
