She was waiting for Pierre in the garden. He’d gone to get some wine for their moonlight stargazing tonight. He was always very romantic.
The floral scents engulfed her as she walked among the many
prize-winning tulips.
There were many varieties. Pierre was proud of his green thumb.
Turning, she saw him running towards her.
“Mona! My precious flower. The love of my life.”
Finally, he said it.
“Oh, Pierre!”
“Mona, my flower!”
“Oh, Pierre! I love you too!”
Pierre reached her. He knelt and moved her foot aside.
“My flower!” “You were standing on my prize-winning flower.”

Oh, he may not know what a dork he is but I think she’s getting an eye opening of what’s important to him.
Great photograph, Na’ama. Is it from the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens? Thanks for lending it to the group.

It is from a neighborhood community garden not far from me. A small space between buildings, where they are known for planting many many types of tulips and it is an annual thing to “go see the tulips.” The garden is the West Side Garden, but almost everyone in the area refers to them as “the tulip garden”, and good reason. It is only an acre or two in size, I think, but they manage to cram a lot of garden into the small space. And the area schools and kindergartens and preschools and daycare centers make a ‘field trip’ to see the tulips every spring. 🙂

I’ve seen and heard about those neighborhood gardens. A welcome site for those who do not have a place in their homes to garden. Gardening can be a calming pastime.
I was raised in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I lived in a brownstone. There was a nice backyard. As a child, I never relaized that few had areas like mine. Thanks for the info. Isadora 😎

HA HA I remember that song. I always laughed when Tiny Tim sang it. Such a high pitched voice. Yes, I think that repartee changed the mood of the moment.
