It’s a mushroom top. I pulled it from my lawn after I took the photo. There was a fat, round stem. No, I didn’t eat it. I wasn’t sure if it was edible. There were only two. Thanks … 😎
Yes, it is the top of a mushroom. I went out to get my mail, and couldn’t figure out what it was until I got closer. It’s gigantic. I had to take a snap. Are they edible? I wouldn’t attempt to eat it but was curious about dogs eating it. I’m glad my cats are totally indoor cats. Hope you’re well and being safe … Isadora 😎
I wouldn’t try one or let a pet try it either. Unless you really know your mushrooms, you shouldn’t be experimenting with those things. I’m just getting over a double whammy of viral and bacterial infections. Negative for Covid but I was down for the count for a couple of weeks. Fortunately, I don’t seem to get sick that often. I’m fortunate my cats are totally indoor cats. The lanai is their outdoor space. Occasionally, a lizard gets them running around. There’s too much wildlife around my neighborhood to let them out. My other two cats were killed by a huge owl when they escaped. They were good at it. No matter how we secured the area, they always got out.

Fungi are fascinating. If you’re unsure, never eat it and never touch it, especially without wearing gloves. Keep safe.

Fungi are the most difficult things to identify with certainty, and definitely not easy from a photo.

Hi Izzy! It’s a pretty ‘shroom top with kind of a frilly edge to it. I’ve seen those in my lawns before too!
