Friday Fictioneers – Grandma’s Greenhouse

My Grandma Emma Rose loved gardening and growing roses. She sold them at the local Farmer’s Market.

Playfully, she’d say, “Roses are as pretty as me. My momma said so.”

One day, a fella came by with some mint plants. He told her it could fetch her more money than roses. They grew tall and sturdy. She said it made a real nice sweet tea.

Abandoned and neglected after she passed, I decided to clean up her greenhouse. The mint had taken over everywhere. Ironically, it wasn’t mint but Cannabis.

Looks like Grandma Emma Rose was ahead of her time.

Intriguing, sensitive, mysterious, loving, artistic and crackling with excitement for life is a pretty good description of who I am. I just retired from the world of art where I sold my Artfully Designed Handmade Jewelry for 28 years; although, art will always be a part of who I am no matter what venue I choose to express it in.

    • Querida Rochelle,
Sweet tea in Florida is mandatory. The first time I served it
I had to pass a jury of southern belles. My best friend, now in
an assisted living facility, was Florida born and raised. There is
a technique. I wonder if cannabis is a secret ingredient omitted
when I was taught. Well … I think I may have to relearn 😉 my sweet
      tea making. LOL
Gracias mi amiga por sus buenas palabras y visita,
      Abrazos y Carino,
      Isadora 😎

  2. All 3 of them are good medicine in my book. I’m happy she wants to carry the growing on for Grandma.

  4. Hahahaha. What fun. And mint and cannabis look sooo much alike–NOT. Still laughing…

    • I’m so happy you got a good chuckle from my story. I thought a grandmother growing cannabis would be hilarious. Of course, she must have known something since no one noticed until she passed. She must have grown the roses to cover the scent. LOL chuckle on Gabe … Have a restful weekend … Isadora 😎

  6. An enjoyable story, Isadora. Nothing like a bit of medicinal mint tea to help with finding better days. Well done. 🙂
