Good-Bye Jamie Dedes’

Peace I leave you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your heart be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27

I’ve been saddened by the news of fellow blogger/friend/American activist Jamie Dedes’ passing.  I knew she’d been ill for some time. I had hoped I’d hear information that she was recovering and gaining strength. I grew concerned when Hospice came in to care for her during the beginnings of COVID.

I’d seen some news on Facebook about her death but hesitated and question its truth.

Now, her son Richard, has posted this information on Facebook:

Hi, everyone,

This is Richard (Jamie’s son).

I know the word has gone out about Jamie’s passing, but haven’t been able to contact everyone directly. Karen and I have been seeing your posts and tributes and genuinely appreciate your love and kind words. I will be continuing to monitor Mom’s Facebook page and maintain her websites. Please feel free to reach out but forgive me if it takes time to respond.  I’m still getting everything sorted out. Delighted to be connecting with you all! Love and respect, Richard 🙏🏻

I met Jamie through a series of challenges at a mutual blog site. Soon, she started to create challenges of her own. She created ‘The Bardo Group’ ‘The BeZine’  ‘The Poet by Day’ The Poet by Day is dedicated to supporting freedom of artistic expression and human rights.©jamiededes’

I joined in and found her encouraging critiques of my writing extremely helpful. When I had doubts she inspired me with words to forge on. She said I had a unique writing style and that I shouldn’t change it. My poetry writing insecurities began to fade with every optimistic praise she gave me. Although I enjoy writing stories more than poetry, I continued to write poems because of her.

We found a commonality in our backgrounds. She was born and raised in Brooklyn in a neighborhood not too far from my own. She posted photos of familiar places we both knew. On one of my posts, I added a photo of myself. I remember her response was, “You’re my sister from another mother.”  She never thought of fellow writers as competitors. They were her motivation to help create great writers.

I will miss her inspiring words. Her blog will be up for a while. If you haven’t read her ‘Words of Art’ pop over to her blog. You won’t be disappointed. I’m always left breathless by her words.

To all who knew her and whose lives she’s touched including her family:

May your troubled hearts find peace and comfort in the knowledge that you are                        not alone. May God’s presence ease your trembling spirit and give you rest.

He is there to cast sunlight into all of your darkened shadows, to send encouragement through the love of friends and family, and to replace your weariness with new hope.

Blessings … Rest in Peace Jamie 🙏

Wordless Wednesday – Do What You Love

Do what you love,

and it will make your soul rich.

Do what you’d do

if you knew every dream could come true.

When you’re doing what you love,

it feels as if you’re flying.

Do what you love, today.

Simplicity

Alone

each thing

is the very essence of simplicity.

A drop of water

with its wondrous transparency.

A strand of a spider’s silk

with its elasticity and strength.

A tiny seed

that holds within it

life.

Simplicity

the manifestation of a miracle.

Never Forget

Don’t forget to glance up from your keyboard

and see how blue the sky is now and then.

Don’t forget to put away your cell phone

and spend time alone with a paintbrush or pen.

Don’t forget to seek the sound of silence

and let the daily traffic rush on by.

Remember that the secret of success is

how happily you climb and not how high.

Turbulent Ocean Waves

Your minds like a sailboat

floating with the wind.

Sailing across the water

of euphoric waves.

Turbulent ocean currents,

at times, control the way.

Negative thoughts,

trapping your days.

But in time, buoyant and carefree

give rise to peaceful signs.

Erasing negative thinking,

as the waves settle down.

Our journey is for serene days,

our hearts ever-yearning for calm.

Soon, we will be sneering at

these turbulent times.

The Life Ahead of Me

I wish, I wish that I could know

the places I have yet to go,

the ways I’ll change. the things I’ll do,

the special dreams I’ll come to know,

the significant moments,

and thoughts,

I’ll make come true.

I wish, I wish that I could see,

the life that lies ahead of me.

If I could Interview God

~ If I could Interview God ~

Why do you allow us to have pain?
If you never felt pain, then, how would you know that I am a healer?

Why must we pray?
If you never had to pray, then, how would you know that I am a deliverer?

Why do you give us so many obstacles?
If you never had a trial, then, how could you call yourself an overcomer?

Why do you give us sadness?
If you never felt sadness, then, how would you know that I am a comforter?

Why do you allow us to make mistakes?
If you never made a mistake, then, how would you know that I am a forgiver?

Why do you take us to where we feel broken?
If you were never broken, then, how would you know that I can make you whole?

Why must we suffer?
If you never had any suffering, then, how would you know what I went through?

Why must we walk through the fires of life?
If you never went through the fire, then, how would you become pure?

Why must we make mistakes only to correct them later?
If I never corrected you, then, how would you know that I love you?

When will we have our own power?
If you had all power, then, how would you learn to depend on me?

Why can’t we have a perfect life?
If your life was perfect, then, what would you need me for?

Love, God

The concept for these questions came from this video I had seen several years ago.

I hope you’ll take the time to view it. I found it most enlightening.

~Enjoy ~

Just a Thought: often when we lose hope and think this is the end,

GOD smiles from above and says, “Relax, it’s just a bend, not the end!”
