Never forget where you’ve been

Never lose sight of where you’re going

And, never take for granted

The people who travel

The journey with you

A Folktale – The Trouble Tree

The carpenter we hired to help us restore an old farmhouse had just finished a rough first day on the job. A flat tire made him lose an hour of work, his electric saw quit, and now his beat-up pickup truck refused to start.

 While we drove him home,  he sat in stony silence.

 On arriving, he invited us in to meet his family.

As we walked toward the front door, he paused briefly at a small tree, touching the tips of the branches with both hands.

 When he opened the door, he underwent an amazing transformation. His tanned face is a wreath in smiles as he hugs his two small children and kisses his wife.

Afterward, he walks us to the car. We pass the tree, and my curiosity gets the better of me. I asked him about what I had seen him do earlier.

 “Oh, that’s my trouble tree,” he replied.” I know I can’t help having troubles on the job and in life, but one thing’s for sure, problems don’t belong in the house with my wife and the children. So I hang them on the tree every night when I come home. Then in the morning, I pick them up again.”

He paused. “Funny thing is,” he smiled, “When I come out in the morning to pick ’em up, there ain’t nearly as many as I remember hanging up the night before.” ©anonymous

A Toast to the New Year 2019

It’s the end of another year and the beginning of a new one.

Where did it go?

It’s been a ride.

I’ve enjoyed every one of those highs and lows on this roller coaster called life. All the ups and downs teach us lessons we need, to help us develop our mind, body and spirit.

We may stumble or have obstacles block us from going forward but they fall away once we accept this is the way it must be in that moment in time.

However you want to look at your life in 2019, the main thing to remember is that you are not alone. There is always someone guiding you in whatever form you choose to believe. Take comfort in knowing that the challenges your given are because you can endure them; no one gets what they cannot conquer.

Hold fast to your memories;

to all your cherished moments of the past;

to the blessings and the laughter;

to the joys and the celebrations;

to the sorrows and the tears;

They all add up to a treasure of fond yesterdays.

 ‘Thank You’ to everyone for being my supportive blogger friends. You’ve helped me to grow and become more than I was before I started this blog journey.

Happy New Year 2019
