Nurture Yourself – Visually Focus

We need to empty our mind and visualize ourselves as being completely barren of all thoughts.

Our old insecurities, judgments and beliefs won’t want to leave. They’re comfortable. But, they’re the thoughts that keep repeating all the negative things we were told while growing up or have experienced now which are holding us back.

Let your negative thoughts float away like feathers. They’ve been taking up important real estate. Your high priced district has been constantly going down. These negative thoughts haven’t helped you so far. They never will. They’re meaningless feelings doing all they can to make you feel burdened and worthless.

Gather new down soft feathers. They’re fluffy and white. They have the new, real you, in them. The happy, positive, creative person you could be; if those negative thoughts weren’t there. If they weren’t there dragging you down with their heavy demands, you’d have the energy to succeed in whatever you choose to do.

Begin to visualize that you’re extraordinarily special, unique and remarkable. Only then, will you be able to feel the peaceful tranquility in you.

Heavy Hearts in Florida

Rose - Blue

They were people like you and me.

Students left the safety of their homes to attend school for a better future. The teachers were there to help guide them to that purpose.

It never crossed their minds that on that particular day their lives would change forever.

When we leave our homes, how many of us think that we’ll never return?

I think, none of us.

Our lives have been changed by a horrific tragedy that happened in Parkland, Florida.

Seventeen people lost their lives and another fifteen were injured, some struggling in hospitals to survive.

It must have been overwhelming for families to wait; transfixed on hearing news of whether or not their family member, child or spouse was okay.

It’s a scenario that’s happening too often.

The losses of innocent people has burdened us with heavy hearts.

I hear these news reports and it paralyzes me. I can’t believe the hate.

The angry feelings that can well-up inside someone to bring them to that level of the destruction of lives.

These are criminals with lack of empathy for others.  Monsters who have little regard for human life.

When will this end?

How will it be stopped?

To all who are suffering from this tragedy of lives lost in Parkland, Florida:

May your troubled hearts find peace and comfort in the knowledge that you are not alone.

May God’s presence ease your trembling spirit and give you rest.

He is there to cast sunlight into all of your darkened shadows,

to send encouragement through the love of friends and family,

and to replace your weariness with new hope.

Blessings to All …

If I could Interview God

~ If I could Interview God ~

Why do you allow us to have pain?
If you never felt pain, then, how would you know that I am a healer?

Why must we pray?
If you never had to pray, then, how would you know that I am a deliverer?

Why do you give us so many obstacles?
If you never had a trial, then, how could you call yourself an overcomer?

Why do you give us sadness?
If you never felt sadness, then, how would you know that I am a comforter?

Why do you allow us to make mistakes?
If you never made a mistake, then, how would you know that I am a forgiver?

Why do you take us to where we feel broken?
If you were never broken, then, how would you know that I can make you whole?

Why must we suffer?
If you never had any suffering, then, how would you know what I went through?

Why must we walk through the fires of life?
If you never went through the fire, then, how would you become pure?

Why must we make mistakes only to correct them later?
If I never corrected you, then, how would you know that I love you?

When will we have our own power?
If you had all power, then, how would you learn to depend on me?

Why can’t we have a perfect life?
If your life was perfect, then, what would you need me for?

Love, God

The concept for these questions came from this video I had seen several years ago.

I hope you’ll take the time to view it. I found it most enlightening.

Just a Thought: often when we lose hope and think this is the end,

GOD smiles from above and says, “Relax, it’s just a bend, not the end!”

Friday Fictioneers – I’m Late – I’m Late

The subway doors opened. People poured off the train like swarms of ants.

Milagros rushed to get to her job. She hadn’t eaten and felt faint. She was late but needed to eat something. Her stomach growled as she ordered coffee and bagel in an out-of-breath voice.

“To go?”, the barista asked.

“Yes,” she said impatiently.

Panic took over the hunger pangs as she searched for her wallet.

Gone.

This can’t be happening.

From behind she heard, “Is this yours?”

“Yes!!!”

“It was on the floor”.

“I can’t thank you enough”

Sure you can, How ‘bout a date?”

A Relaxing Afternoon – I think

Woman: “Heelo … can I hep yew?”

Me: “Yes, I’d like to make an appointment for a pedicure and manicure with John. A friend had recommended him to me.”

Woman: “Yew, come now.”

Me: “It will take me 20 minutes to get to your shop.”

Woman: “Yew, come nowww. He waiting.”

Me: “OK … see you in a little while.”

~~~~~~~
I drive my short little 20 minutes to the salon.
~~~~~~~

Woman: When I enter the salon, the woman at the front counter says, “Pic a cala.”

Me: I say, “I have my own color.” (thinking – there could be germs on their nail polish.)

Woman: John???? (shouting and unintelligible exchange)

Woman: Pointing, “You go there.”

I make my way to the pedicure chair. This man motions me to sit.

I grab my phone from my purse and, compliantly, I sit.

I place my feet into a warm soothing bath of salts. Now, I’m ready to be pampered.

The young man prepares his pedicure instruments and puts on his gloves.

Shutting the water off he looks up at me.

Him: “Wata ok?”

Me: “Excuse me?”

Him: Pointing, “Wata ok?”

Me: “Yes, its fine.”

The pedicure takes about 40 minutes.

Silence.

There’s never a word exchanged. Hand gestures are the mode of conversation.

Eventually, he looks up and points to the manicure table.

Like a good soldier, I march to my chair and sit.

He begins removing my old nail polish. Tense from all of this silence, I make a silly remark about my worse-for-wear nails due to gardening. He looks up and nods.

Creepy.

Does he hate gardening? Does he feel I’ve entered his silent zone without permission?

Unable to continue in this silent tortuous world I ask, “Do you work everyday?”

Him: “Yeezz”

Me: “When do you go to school?”

Him: Pointing to his salon license he says, “I finith school. Am tech now.”

Me: “I see that your name Van Nac Tan. It doesn’t say John on there.”

Him: “Me John.”

Me: I want to say, ‘No, your license says Van Nac Tan. Is John the translation?’

Him: As if I needed more clarification he says, “I am tirty yeer ol’.”

Me: “Ahhh … but you look so young.”

Him: He sends me a grimace with his eyes and, I’m sure, from under his mask too.

Me: (thinking) I guess he prefers silence.

I decide he’s a man of few words and a man who does not enjoy a compliment.

Before adding my new nail color he hands me the bill.

Him: “Yew pay now. Tip cash only”

Me: (thinking) Do I have cash? I’m a charge card carrying person. You know the one who gets lots and lots of points if you use your charge card for everything. I give him my card and off he goes to run it through. I look in my purse and find my emergency cash stash. Lucky me or him.

He hands me the charge receipt for signing. He takes it and places it in a draw. I give him his tip. He grabs it and again throws it in the draw. Nods a quick, Thack u, I think?

My nails are polished to a glossy shine. I’m directed to the drying area next and, then, he leaves for the back room without a word.

Me: (thinking) this has been relaxing: I think.

Friday Fictioneers – Perfect Moments

Another day is about to pass. With wide eyes, I see into the remains of the day. The red ink, in the blue milk skies, illuminating the world before dusk. I love you as the night loves shadow. I love the essence of all you are. Each time I see your handcrafted goblets, a smile invades my lips.

When I’m alone like this, you’re always in my heart. The sun massages my face from the suns rays streaming through the open window. The wind ruffles my hair. I can feel your exhaustion against yielding grain like my thoughts of you.

Nurture Yourself – Enjoy Every Moment

Because the season of Autumn is upon us,

the changing foliage reminds us of the changes

we must make throughout our lives.

Every petal, leaf or bark shed

is a layer we shed on our own journey

to our final destination.

Relish in the colors of our lives.

Nurture Yourself – Take Care of Yourself

It’s been a long road back to blogging.

I’ve been healing from some upsetting things that have happened to me.

I’m hoping to tell of my experiences and of the many changes in my life.

It’s all been a part of my writing brain fog.

Healing happens in stages. I’m back on my the path. But, I’m in those beginning stages.

Taking care of myself was and is my first priority. I’ve been doing just that.
As many of you who follow me know, I live near the beach. I visit often. It’s my place to reconnect with nature. The waves against the shore are a meditative sound that help balance the stresses that can overpower me. Many of these traumas were beyond my control. Nature took a bite out of my safety net. The fall was shocking since there is no aggressive behavior in paradise.

The video below is where I was until these recent occurrences. I hope you enjoy it for its artistry of dance but also for the connected calm the two dancers are trying to impart on those who are viewing them. The ocean is where I find myself floating in the air, as the ship I might be on floats through calm waters.

Nurture Yourself – Sitting Alone Listening to the Silence

Friends …. It is time for me to take a brief respite.

I wanted to leave you with a nurturing post. I wrote this one in 2015.

I think the meaning is still significant.

I will be out on the high seas gathering energy from the wind and salty air:

Listening to the Music of the waves. I leave you with a

Nirinjan Kaur – “I Am”

Her voice is melodic. The words powerfully enlightening.

Sitting alone listening to the silence … I ponder that … today is a day like any other day.

Each day, we rise and hope to fill our lives with new and exciting discoveries.

Each of us has a different vision for what those discoveries are going to be.

In the end, despite what our own individual discoveries turn out to be, we all have to go into them in pretty much the same way. We have to rise and gather up our energy to go into whatever it is we are going to do. Some of us have an exact plan on how to do that; some of us don’t. Those that do not have an exact plan face the greatest difficulty because they have no direction.

How do we find our exact plan??? I can’t say.

Is it something we develop while we’re being raised by our parents?

Are the teachers or religious leaders of our churches part of the influence for our decisions?

Is it instinctual to know what we want to search for in our adventure to discovery?

Is it important to have a need for discovery or is it something told to us that we must do?

These are important and very difficult questions to ask ourselves. These are questions that some of us can’t answer and struggle daily to unravel. This is the puzzle of our existence.

Just pondering …. while sitting alone listening to the silence.
