Nurture Yourself – Visually Focus

We need to empty our mind and visualize ourselves as being completely barren of all thoughts.

Our old insecurities, judgments and beliefs won’t want to leave. They’re comfortable. But, they’re the thoughts that keep repeating all the negative things we were told while growing up or have experienced now which are holding us back.

Let your negative thoughts float away like feathers. They’ve been taking up important real estate. Your high priced district has been constantly going down. These negative thoughts haven’t helped you so far. They never will. They’re meaningless feelings doing all they can to make you feel burdened and worthless.

Gather new down soft feathers. They’re fluffy and white. They have the new, real you, in them. The happy, positive, creative person you could be; if those negative thoughts weren’t there. If they weren’t there dragging you down with their heavy demands, you’d have the energy to succeed in whatever you choose to do.

Begin to visualize that you’re extraordinarily special, unique and remarkable. Only then, will you be able to feel the peaceful tranquility in you.

Isadora

Nurture Yourself – Live your Little Mercies

Compassion and forgiveness are the little mercies
we need to develop while walking through our paths of nurturing.

Recently, I read a book called Little Mercies. It’s the journey of a small child who experiences a great many trials at a very tender age when most children are enjoying and innocently playing with friends and toys. The quote is from the book by Heather Gundenkauf. This child’s social worker is faced with an unspeakable tragedy she’s unable to cope with. Her mother tries to comfort her with these words.

Throughout our lives we’re faced with tragedies far greater than we ever could imagine living or coping with. Somehow, we find a strength deep inside that wraps its arms around us to help us manage to place one foot in front of the other.

All of the painful layers we’ve carefully peeled away, have helped us get attuned with our emotional selves.

We must never stop writing our own story of little mercies. It helps us to be present.
It’s a gift we give to our nurturing selves.

In Love and Light,
Isadora 🙏

Nurture Yourself – Seek Peaceful Serenity

Because of our daily stress filled lives, especially during the hectic holiday festivities, we need to create a quietly calm and peacefully still place where we can feel tranquil serenity.

Our imagination can help us with this very difficult task of relaxing by providing us with the ability to dream of magical places. I love to imagine a garden of flowers filled with every imaginable color and shape. It’s an image that can make anyone smile.

What about a snow covered mountain or forest? Snow blankets on the slumbering earth. The sun sparkling on the hanging icicles of a cold winters day.

Peaceful thoughts of hearts filled with quiet calm because we could all be one. No labels, no issues, no hostility, no anger. Just wonderful love for all no matter who they may be.

Nurturing yourself at the end of a day helps you achieve an untroubled placid sleep for better health.

If people could be serenely still they would see a positive spin in their life’s situation. Sitting in quiet contemplation, without negative thoughts towards themselves and others can be transforming.

Can you imagine a place of serenity?

In Love and Light

Nurture Yourself – Enjoy Every Moment

Because the season of Autumn is upon us,

the changing foliage reminds us of the changes

we must make throughout our lives.

Every petal, leaf or bark shed

is a layer we shed on our own journey

to our final destination.

Relish in the colors of our lives.

Nurture Yourself – Take Care of Yourself

It’s been a long road back to blogging.

I’ve been healing from some upsetting things that have happened to me.

I’m hoping to tell of my experiences and of the many changes in my life.

It’s all been a part of my writing brain fog.

Healing happens in stages. I’m back on my the path. But, I’m in those beginning stages.

Taking care of myself was and is my first priority. I’ve been doing just that.
As many of you who follow me know, I live near the beach. I visit often. It’s my place to reconnect with nature. The waves against the shore are a meditative sound that help balance the stresses that can overpower me. Many of these traumas were beyond my control. Nature took a bite out of my safety net. The fall was shocking since there is no aggressive behavior in paradise.

The video below is where I was until these recent occurrences. I hope you enjoy it for its artistry of dance but also for the connected calm the two dancers are trying to impart on those who are viewing them. The ocean is where I find myself floating in the air, as the ship I might be on floats through calm waters.

Nurture Yourself – Love is Energy

We are the sum of experiences that we encounter as we go through life. Day to day struggles and triumphs are experinced by all of the worlds creatures. As human beings, when we encounter a challenge, we have freedom to choose on how we react. Every decision that we make leads us down a different road. We will never come to exactly the same crossroads. Every decision that we make has significance. The tiniest choices that we make reverberates through the entire universe. ©info click here

Nurture Yourself – Accept Life’s Changes

Gardening is the art that uses flowers and plants as paint and the soil and sky as canvas. ©Elizabeth Murray

Drying roses or flowers remind us of the impermanence of life.
Our bodies and mind change over the years.
We become weaker. Our health declines despite our efforts.
But, there can be beauty at every stage of our lives.
Mother Nature provides great lessons about these stages
if we’re willing to see them.

Flowers wilt as they age. The petals become brittle. The colors fade.
When the time has come for precious flowers to leave us,
they play a symphony of shades of various colors for us to further enjoy.
Too often our fear of endings grasps our emotions.
We banish them to the disposable world
and, their beauty ends too soon.
Focus on the beauty of life’s changes.
Inevitably, we are all ephemeral.

Nurture Yourself – Have Faith in Your Other Hand

Jenny’s Pearls

mermaid-screen-shot-2017-02-07-at-7-01-40-pm

Five year old Jenny was a pretty blue eyed, blond, angelic looking child.
She was sweet, loving and caring to everyone she met. Her mother and father
were very proud of Jenny’s big heart and giving nature.

One day, Jenny was shopping with her mother. They were passing a glass case when Jenny noticed these beautiful plastic pearls.

“Can I get them Mother?” Jenny asked.

“It is a very pretty pearl necklace but it is expensive. The cost is $2.50.” she calmly told Jenny.

She could see the disappointment Jenny’s face.

Feeling her sadness she said, “If you would like to do chores to pay for the pearl necklace I will get them for you today”.

“Oh, yes,” Jenny said.

“Well, we can make a chore chart when we get home”, her mother told her.

Jenny agreed and her mother purchased the pearl necklace for her.

As soon as the chart was up on the refrigerator, Jenny started to do her chores. A week later was her birthday. Her grandmother gave her one dollar as her gift. Soon, she had paid for the beautiful pearl necklace.

Jenny adored her little pearl necklace. She wore it all the time; except when she showered. She wore it to the store where it had been purchased and everyone admired it. She was smiling each and every time someone commented on its beauty.

Jenny’s daddy loved her very much; as much as Jenny loved her pearl necklace. When it was bedtime he would read her one of her favorite bedtime stories.

One night when he finished the story, he said, “Jenny do you love me?”

“Oh yes, Daddy, you know I love you.” She said hugging him tightly.

“Well, then, give me your pearls.”

“Oh, Daddy, not my pearls,” Jenny said. “But you can have Rosie, my favorite doll. Remember her? You gave her to me last year for my birthday. And you can have her tea party outfit, too.” “Okay?”

“No, darling, that’s okay”. Her father said as he brushed her cheek with a kiss. “Good night, little one.”

A week later, her father once again asked Jenny after her story, “Do you love me?”

“Oh yes, Daddy, you know I love you.” She hugged him tighter than the night before.

“Well, then give me your pearls,” he said.

“Oh, Daddy, not my pearls, Jenny said. But you can have Ribbons, my toy horse. Do you remember her? She’s my favorite. Her hair is so soft, and you can play with it.
You can braid it and everything. You can have Ribbons, if you want, Daddy,” the little girl said to her father.

“No, that’s okay,” her father said and brushed her cheek again with a kiss. “God bless you little one, sweet dreams.”

Several days later, when Jenny’s father came into her room to read her a story, Jenny was sitting on her bed and her lip was quivering.

When her father asked, “What’s wrong princess?”

Jenny said, “Here, Daddy.” She held out her hand and when she opened it her beloved pearl necklace were inside. She let it slip into her father’s hand.

With one hand her father held the plastic pearls and with the other he pulled out of his pocket a blue velvet box. Inside of the box was a strand of real pearls. They were glistening with shine. He had them all along. He was waiting for Jenny to give up the plastic ones so he could give her the real ones.

Instead of a story that night, Jenny’s father told her why he had asked her to give him the pretty pearl necklace:

He explained that in life there will be things that she will want to hold onto. These could be things that are harmful or will keep her from having a happy life. It could be a partner, a relationship, a friend, a habit or obsession. These things could bring her danger and could be impossible to let go of. He wanted her to believe that with her own inner strength of love of self she could let go of these things and still be whole.

When something is wounding – let go.  Something more precious could and will come along. She needed to have faith that within her all things were possible. Because, the most important part of who she was could always be found deep inside.

Sometimes, it will be hard to see what’s in the other hand but do believe this; one thing is true they are always working together …..  2017©Isadora DeLaVega
