Inside the Mind of Isadora

Friday Fictioneers – A Day at the Beach

It’s warm as I lay on my-blanket staring up at the sky. The bright sun sparkles on the crystal blue waters. It’s peaceful; a calm sensation fills me.

A man is painting at a peak on a hill under a towering palm tree.

In the distance, sailboats skim the water.

Flamingos settle by the water’s edge scooping-fish. They resemble gentlemen wearing pink tuxedo shirts with spotted yellow bowties.

As the skies change from sunny yellow, reddish pink, and orange, a gray shadow sweeps over the water.

The man picks up another canvas, ready to create the ominous sky.

Author: Inside the Mind of Isadora

Intriguing, sensitive, mysterious, loving, artistic and crackling with excitement for life is a pretty good description of who I am. I just retired from the world of art where I sold my Artfully Designed Handmade Jewelry for 28 years; although, art will always be a part of who I am no matter what venue I choose to express it in.

  6. Querida Isadora,

Such lovely descriptions. The artist is a nice touch. I’m looking forward to my yearly visit to North Carolina and spending time on the beach with my brother and SIL. Bien escrito, mi amiga.

    • Querida Rochelle,
There are many, many artists that create masterful art at the beach. The relaxation brings forth the creativity in them. I’m sure your fins will be geared up for lots of swimming and playful water fights with your brother. Thank you for hosting and keeping us in our 100 word writing space. Happy Vaca … !!!!

    • I’m so pleased you enjoyed my visit to the beach I live a short 5 minutes from. It’s as I described because it’s a small beach in the town of Engelwood, Florida. There usually aren’t flamingoes but for the esthetic I though I’d add them There are a great many peilcans, seagulls and sandpiper birds. Thank youf ro your lovely comment, Tannille, and for visiting.

  17. This is such a peaceful read, Isadora. I really like how you imagined the flamingos to be wearing pink tuxedo shirts and yellow bowties. They sound like really happy birds and ready to party in the sun. If only every day could be this slow and relaxing and full of peace inside and outside. Hope you are well 🙂

    • Thank you, Mabel, for your lovely comment. Originally, I used to write children story challenges because I feel child-like sometimes. It’s a great way to use my imagination. I guess the flamingoes came about due to that. I thought it was a pretty thought. I’m happy you enjoyed that part and my peacful place, a short 5 minutes from where I live. I’m fortunate to be retired and able to enjoy it very often.
