The Rondezvous
The lone bench awaited the lovers.
A plaza in the center of town seemed like the perfect spot for their rendezvous.
They’d spoken about meeting to make future plans.
He was enthralled by her beauty.
It was getting harder and harder for him to wait for her to try to sneak away.
Now, they would discuss her escape from her husbands brutal ways.
Time was passing.
He grew suspiciously impatient.
What was the delay?
No matter, she would soon be his.
But, sadly, it was not meant to be.
How could they have known,
her husband would come home early, that day, and kill her.

Very sad story, Issy. This bench will always remind him of what might have been.

It will always be a place that was theirs but could never be. The bench has beautiful serenity and sadness all in one. 😊

A tragic ending to a love that was not meant to be. 😢 I’m glad you enjoyed the bench. It does have beautiful wrought iron arm rests. It does look serene and lonely. 😊

Those kind of endings seem all to common. 😦 You had us in suspense right up to the end. 🙂
