Friday Fictioneers – Job Hunting

From their bench, Vincenzo and Guiseppe take in the activities of everyday life.

“Vincenzo, I gotta get a job.”

“Why? We can show tourists around like we always do.”

“For tips and grins? Mama’s gonna kill me if I don’t get a job,”

“Get out of this funk, Guiseppe, you’re starting to bore me.”

“Mama gave me 6 bucks for lunch. She told me, I better have a job when I go home today.”

“Hey, I got 4 bucks. Let’s go get a bottle of Chianti.”

“I guess I can look tomorrow.”

“Let’s go, Guisep, before you change your mind.”

My Bucket List

Flash Fiction FAR - photo-20160523071601748

I’m here. Finally.

“One more item off my Bucket List”, I say to Carlotta.

~~~~~
My eyes can’t seem to absorb all of the beauty. The walls of this cathedral are covered with masterful art from top to bottom.
My heart is beating fast.
Every inch of me is shaking at the thought that I’m standing in the midst of all this creative spiritual beauty.
~~~~~~

“Children! Remember, God is everywhere but never more present than in the Sistine Chapel”, said Sister Mary Annunziciata in a raised tone.

I can hear her, clearly, as I stand here taking in the ecclesiastically magnificent imagery of all this reverent artistry.

~~~~~~
Tears begin to well in my eyes from the breathtaking splendor. I never imagined I’d step foot in this majestic cathedral.
Overwhelming chills wrap their arms around me. My head throbs from the excitement. I’ve arrived at a place I never thought I’d see.
~~~~~~

“Ignacia?”

“Ignacia, are you alright?”, I hear my friend shouting.

Loud sirens.

Fast driving.

Serene white light.
