And the Winner is???

And the Winner is … ???

Hollywood: the glitz – the glamour – the stars. Yes, that’s what the Oscars is.

I’m not a big fan of award shows. In fact, I’m not a fan of award of any kind.

When I was doing art shows, there was always a frenzy on Sunday morning

about who was awarded ribbons the night before at the artist dinner.

Invariably, no one was ever 100% happy about who received them.

Sour grapes? Maybe.

I just think it all came down to perspective and personal perception.

Boy … that’s a lot of P’s. Yes, the judges P’s.

Is there anyone out there that doesn’t want to get a pat on the back

for good work? Artists are highly sensitive as to how their work

is perceived and accepted. Usually, an award gives them validation.

I’ve been on the receiving end of a great many awards

when I was exhibiting my artful jewelry.

The cash attached to the ribbon made it all the sweeter.

If you were having a bad show with minimal sales,

it helped to cover your expenses and then some.

But, there were the glares from those stuffed with sour grapes

wandering on Sunday morning wearing the judgmental hats

of – I know art and that isn’t art. Oh, the pain of it all.

Sometimes, it wasn’t worth the begrudging envy.

I would imagine it isn’t any different at the Oscars.

I’m sure these poor souls are fearing the repercussion of their impending win.

I feel their pain.

However, they get to dress-up in fancy gowns from designers

and flaunt luscious jewels and diamonds. I think it helps ease the discomfort.

And, I think, the cash to come from a win can soothe those dagger wounds.

I like to watch the Oscars for the movie reviews and the music.

I look forward to seeing if the movies I’ve seen are thought to be good wins.

I think the performances showcased during the show are worthy of an evening

out on the town. I crank up the surround sound and dance a tune or two

while I get to enjoy what my hubby and I like to know – what movies will be our next selection.

After all, we watch a lot of movies in a huge variety of genres.

So, start popping the pop corn and turn up the sound.

Here are the movies and the songs nominated for tonights Oscars.

I hope your favorite is selected.

Intriguing, sensitive, mysterious, loving, artistic and crackling with excitement for life is a pretty good description of who I am. I just retired from the world of art where I sold my Artfully Designed Handmade Jewelry for 28 years; although, art will always be a part of who I am no matter what venue I choose to express it in.

  1. I only saw one movie nominated for an Oscar and it didn’t win. Since I don’t watch TV, I didn’t watch the awards. When I did watch years ago, seeing the fashions was my favorite part (and the comedic host).
