Friends …. It is time for me to take a brief respite.
I wanted to leave you with a nurturing post. I wrote this one in 2015.
I think the meaning is still significant.
I will be out on the high seas gathering energy from the wind and salty air:

Sitting alone listening to the silence … I ponder that … today is a day like any other day.
Each day, we rise and hope to fill our lives with new and exciting discoveries.
Each of us has a different vision for what those discoveries are going to be.
In the end, despite what our own individual discoveries turn out to be, we all have to go into them in pretty much the same way. We have to rise and gather up our energy to go into whatever it is we are going to do. Some of us have an exact plan on how to do that; some of us don’t. Those that do not have an exact plan face the greatest difficulty because they have no direction.
How do we find our exact plan??? I can’t say.
Is it something we develop while we’re being raised by our parents?
Are the teachers or religious leaders of our churches part of the influence for our decisions?
Is it instinctual to know what we want to search for in our adventure to discovery?
Is it important to have a need for discovery or is it something told to us that we must do?
These are important and very difficult questions to ask ourselves. These are questions that some of us can’t answer and struggle daily to unravel. This is the puzzle of our existence.
Just pondering …. while sitting alone listening to the silence.

When we reflect on our lives we can’t help but include in our thoughts the one person who’s had the most influence on us:
‘Our Mother.’
She forms the person we’ll be from the beginning of conception. We’re who we are because of her. Despite the way we may feel about her, she is the major player in the formation of our lives.
There are lessons a mother teaches us but it’s always up to us to put them into effect.
It’s always up to us to be in charge of our decisions.
Sometimes, we ruminate and get stuck on what we weren’t given.
This shouldn’t matter.
For in the end, if we fail or if we succeed, we should never forget that the final choices are always up to us.
The poem below reflects a Mother’s words eloquently … enjoy the Secret Garden as you read.

Reflections of a Mother…
I gave you life, but cannot live it for you.
I can teach you things, but I cannot make you learn.
I can give you directions, but I cannot be there to lead you.
I can allow you freedom, but I cannot account for it.
I can take you to church, but I cannot make you believe.
I can teach you right from wrong, but I cannot always decide for you.
I can buy you beautiful clothes, but I cannot make you beautiful inside.
I can offer you advice, but I cannot accept it for you.
I can give you love, but I cannot force it upon you.
I can teach you to share, but I cannot make you unselfish.
I can teach you respect, but I cannot force you to show honor.
I can advise you about friends, but cannot choose them for you.
I can advise you about sex, but I cannot keep you pure.
I can tell you the facts of life, but I can’t build your reputation.
I can tell you about drink, but I can’t say “no” for you.
I can warn you about drugs, but I can’t prevent you from using them.
I can tell you about lofty goals, but I can’t achieve them for you.
I can teach you about kindness, but I can’t force you to be gracious.
I can warn you about sins, but I cannot make you moral.
I can pray for you, but I cannot make you walk with God.
I can tell you how to live, but I cannot give you eternal life.
I can love you with unconditional love all of my life

Clarity (claridad, limpidez – Spanish) is to be free from cloudiness, obscurity and mind blurred thoughts. It’s a state of mind quality that is clear; transparent and lucid.
When there are many stressful issues in our lives, past or present, burdening our mind clarity becomes a veiled blur.
Simple decisions or choices become overwhelming.
Our navigation through the fog of indecision brings us down; especially, if situations don’t turn out the way we expect.
It’s similar to the delusional, ever lurking word hope. If our hopeful expectations don’t happen the way we hoped they would, there’s a downward spiral of sadness and, sometimes, depression from disappointment.
We doubt ourselves.
Sometimes, we can’t decide what we want to do with our lives, our careers or
our relationships.
Clarity of mind includes having clarity of passion, too.
A lucid mind loves ardently and sees distinctly what it loves.
Sitting quietly, having moments of deep meditation helps us to see through those murky foggy places that need clearing.
In opening your mind’s eye to clarity, you begin to change into a radiant you.
If you’re reading this, you’ve survived your entire life up until this point.
You’ve survived traumas, heartbreak, devastation, and the different phases of your life.
And, here you are …
Are you taking time to lift your veil of darkness in order to have more clarity?

Dancing is very freeing. Many people believe that
you must follow certain guidelines to be a dancer.
Isadora Duncan believed in an unrestrained style of dance.
She’s been credited with moving dance away from strict formal structures
towards more free-flowing forms of personal expression.
Five Brahms Waltzes in the Manner of Isadora Duncan – Solo (Tamara Rojo, The Royal Ballet)
The free spirit that was Isadora Duncan was tragically silenced
when she was killed in a terrible car accident in Nice on the Riviera, France.
The eccentric, world famous, dancer and pioneer of a new style of progressive dance was killed.
During a test drive for a car she was interested in purchasing,
her Spanish shawl was caught in the mechanism of the front wheel of her car.
A devastating ending to a forward thinking dance artist.

I read this parable about Love. It’s insightful. It’s touching. The ending has a profound lesson.
Perhaps, because of all the recent events in the news, we need to focus on Love again.

The Guests
A woman was in her garden, when she saw 3 old men with long white beards sitting in her front yard. She did not recognize them.
She said, “I do not know you. Are you hungry? Please come in and have something to eat.”
“Is the man of the house home?”
“No,” she replied. “He’s out”.
“Then we cannot come in,” they replied.

In the evening when her husband came home, she told him what had happened.
“Go tell them I am home and invite them to come in!”
The woman went out and invited them in.
“We do not go into a house together,” they replied.
“Why is that?” she asked.
One of the old men explained: “His name is Wealth, he said pointing to one of his friends, and said pointing another, His name is Success, and I am Love.”
Then he added, “Now go in and discuss with your husband which one of us you would like to come in.”
The woman went in and told the husband what was said. Her husband was overjoyed.
“How nice!” he said. “Since that is the case, let us invite Wealth!”
His wife disagreed. “My dear, why don’t we invite Success?”
Their daughter-in-law was listening from the other corner of the room. She jumped in with her suggestion: “Would it not be better to invite Love? Our home will then be filled with Love!”
Let us heed our daughter-in-law’s advice,” said the husband to the wife. “Go out and invite Love to be our guest.”
The woman went out and asked the 3 old men, “Which one of you is Love? Please come in and be our guest.”
Love got up and started walking to the house. The other 2 got up and followed him, too.
Surprised, the woman asked Wealth and Success, “Why are you coming in? I only invited Love.”
The old men replied: “If you had invited Wealth or Success, the other two of us would have stayed out, but you invited Love.
Wherever he goes, we go with him.
Wherever there is Love, there is Wealth and Success!!!!”

I spent time building something that couldn’t be built. You showed me that I’d counted on the illusion of my heart.
Perhaps my love, it’s time to say goodbye.
Yes, you don’t want to hear these words.
Our lives together can’t be built on crumbly silt of sand for it would fall upon itself.
We tried and failed, persisting in the dream, because I believed it would succeed. It’s hard to distinguish whether or not the world I live in is a reality or a delusion.
Yet, I didn’t know that shifting sands would lie beneath my feet. I toiled and hungered with determination and fearless resolve. Faithful in my yearnings that you and I could be. I felt a loving future that, I thought, our lives could share. Our imminent future built upon a platform we would surely coalesce.
But now, it’s time to say goodbye instead. I’ll spend my time constructing a newness to survive without your presence in my mind or throbbing in my heart.
You were the man that made me proud.
Your soul had made me strong.
You were the path that kept me straight.
Now, I just don’t belong.
Forever and a day, I will be in love with you.
But keeping the desires of sunshine fresh has been difficult to do.
Sadly, your fingers drift from my hand as we say goodbye.
Your touch is fading from my soul you are no longer mine.
