Cafe Chat – Hot Temps

Welcome … grab a cup of coffee, iced or hot herbal tea . I’m having a cappuccino. The photo on the left shows one I enjoyed many times on a cruise at Cafe Baci.

The last ten days have been great. My daughter, Lori, and her friend, Rene, visited from South Carolina. It’s always wonderful to see and spend time with family. They needed a mid-summer vacation of lounging on the beach. Our plans included celebrating my July birthday and my daughter’s August birthday too.

My daughter prefers driving the extended 10 hours to arrive at my Florida location rather than flying. I give her a lot of credit. For me, sitting in a car for hours can be exhaustingly stressful.

Once they arrived, it was time to hit the beach sand and lazily sun the hours away. They are professional beachgoers. They rise around 8:00 to prepare lunch, coolers full of beverages, and snacks, a tent, lounge chairs, battery-operated fans, floats, sunblock lotions, and music.

PHEW … I was exhausted watching them get ready. I joined them one day, although the temperature predictions were to be 96. With the humidity, it felt like 105. A constant breeze from the rain sprinkles that fell made those temperatures bearable. I’m not a beach person. Odd right? I live in Florida and don’t enjoy the beach. But I like watching the sunsets from the beautifully built boardwalk.

Summer has been sweltering hot here in Florida this year. Safety announcements have been everywhere. Hydration is the most important. The hum of our air conditioner has been non-stop. Night swimming in our pool can be a way to cool down. For me, the afternoon humidity means siesta time.  I love summer, but we need cooler temperatures. And, soon … Have a great week … Isadora

*****These aren’t the photos of our recent visit to Manasota Key. I guess I’ll be calling Apple to find out why my photos won’t upload.

A Quiet Respite

sunset-sailwebBlog Friends  ….

It is time for me to take a brief respite. I will be out on the high seas gathering energy from the wind and salty air. I’ll be listening to the music of the waves.

I wanted to leave you with a peaceful image of the ocean. I think in one of my previous lives I must have been a sailor. I love being out on the water.

Perhaps, it’s because of my astrology sign. I’m a cancer which is a water sign and is represented by the crab. I’m renewed while receiving abundant energy from the ocean.

I’ll be without technology of any kind. I’ll be writing, reading and contemplating on expanding my knowledge of how to create a more peaceful journey for my life.

Your posts brighten my day. I look forward to them. I believe you’re exceptional bodies of work will be the greatest loss while I’m away. Many, many of you are very talented and post the most incredibly meaningful stories and photographs I delight in seeing and reading.

Please feel free to make me aware of your extraordinary posts so I can read them.

In my absence, if you’d like to catch up on my stories or poetry feel free to visit and enjoy. If you leave your insightful and thoughtful comments, I can assure you I will get to each and every one of them.

I leave you with the most precious gift … LOVE  😍

Isadora 😎

At the Beach

My beach has a big umbrella casting shade over my empty chair.

Warm water touches my skin and soothes the ache within.

Palm trees are growing, warm breezes blowing.

Salty air in every breathe taken in.

I picture myself there day after day.

My beach is my haven, my comfort, my care.

At the beach, life is different.

Time doesn’t move hour to hour but mood to moment.

We live by the currents, plan by the tides and follow the sun.

Cooling with Jazz

Enjoy a little jazz instrumental while you take a tour of our favorite town to visit: Sarasota, Florida.

In April, the jazz club of Sarasota has a cool jazz cruise along Sarasota bay.

We look forward to it every year. My husband is a former jazz musician.

He enjoys the club and all of its’ activities.

These photos of the jazz cruise are from last year. We missed it this year due to my daughters wedding in New York.

The ferry leaves from the Sarasota marina. Le Barge was the host boat.

The glass mirrored mermaid mascot was our guide along the waterways.

A light menu if offered along with alcohol and non-alcoholic beverages.

The band changes from year to year. Unfortunately, I can’t recall the name of this band.

It was a bit cool for April as you can see by the bands light weight jackets.

The sky was a beautiful azure blue. The condos dotted the skyline like sculptural statues.

The once laid back cracker traditional Florida houses and cottages now gone to progress.

Boats await their captains for a day on the water.

This sailboat far off by itself created the perfect picture postcard

of a Florida boating vacation.Since the jazz cruise takes place in the beginning of April our rains hadn’t started.

This is a photograph of what happens when the waters are low.

Boats, birds and pelicans all vie for water.

There are many nests on those dry mounds.Of course, the mansions along the way showcase the wealth of Sarasota.

The rich and the famous, yes, stars do have homes here.

Many are part of the summer stock theater productions and the arts.

Each home is as individual as the people who occupy them.

People dot the waters edge at the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens.

This is a favorite place I love going to visit. They  specialize in orchid growing.

They have lectures, different exhibitions every year,

greenhouses with unusual orchids,

concerts on their magnificent grounds; especially, on Mother’s Day

or you can enjoy leisure walks in their luscious gardens.

Speed boats race along the waterway creating sprays of salty air.

The white caps, their signature, left behind.

After a beautiful day of cool jazz on the water, a walk among the palm trees,

flowering trees and plants is a perfect way to end the day.

Nothing is more important than to be in the now of the day.

Little Sailboat Floating on the Sea

Flash Fiction 553 - wpid-photo-20150929111934421
Standing on the pier, I see you floating in the far distance. Little sailboat, you’re calling me.
Beckoning, you cry out, I travel upon the open sea. We can sail away wherever the winds take us.                                                                        We can move, aimlessly, along the coasts to find new passages and adventures. Each day, my little                                                     sailboat, will take me to magical islands filled with peaceful bliss. Where rest and solace are key.                                                                    A life on the ocean that’s relaxed and carefree; full of mirthful blithe.

Can you feel the salty water on your sturdy bow?

Are the gusts of the wind kissing your sails with tender delight?

I can feel the oceans breeze blowing its’ moist salty air upon my face with a special caress only for me.
Soon, we’ll find those enchanting islands. They lie somewhere. They’ll embrace me with                                                                       islanders waving a welcome.
